Following his win. Inoue revealed that after round 2, he had double vision for the remainder of 10 rounds. He had to completely throw his game plan out the window. He couldn't measure the distance of where donaire was. And in order to see straight, he had to cover his right eye with his glove and not give away his injury.
This tactic came out about because, Inoue remembered when Donaire fought Rigondeux. Donaire covered his hurt eye, to see straight. However, Donaire said after that punch, Inoue adapted well, and didn’t realise there was something wrong with his vision.
Donaire said that Inoue is very similar to his style. So he knew certain areas of how he would react. In round 10, Inoue said Donaire looked worn out, and knew he could go to the body.
5 years ago, when Inoue met Donaire, it inspired him to follow and study Donaire. After the bout, Donaire said he had to put his pride aside, and ask Inoue if he could borrow the trophy. Inoue said he respects Donaire more than any other fighter, even before and after the fight. Inoue said he’s learned so much from him.
