I've seen both of their careers play out and that wasn't Kovalev at all. Once again; Kov was concussed in his last fight against the overrated Yarde. You gotta realize that Kov is damaged goods because of Andre Ward. He never recovered from that azz whoopin that Dre put on him. Cmon. Styles make fights. Quick maneuvering and slipping punches to ease the power all makes a difference in boxing, that’s how you gauge/compare damage. Kovalev doesn’t have footwork, defense, like Lara or Cotto. Jacobs is faster than Kovalev. GGG is faster than Kovalev. Both GGG and Jacobs only threw jabs for a reason. Kovalev too tried his straight right but because he’s soo lanky and long Canelo could see the telegraphed punches better than his previous encounters.

And lastly, Canelo wasn’t drained. His firepower was as crisp as his last weeks in the gym and sparring.

Those are the easiest and realistic facts as to why it is what you saw.
