Yea I like this idea. You could have Wilder be Wilder. You dont even have to invent a character for him to be. Hes enough of a character already. Creed vs Wilder!!! Lets do it.

He could duck fights in the movie, it would be typecasting but you know he can play the part well.Comment

If you had Wilder as Wilder the big fight in the movie would never get filmed. Wilder would just duck the fight and insist on fighting Ortiz instead. It would ruin the script.Comment

Clubber Lang never ducked anyone so what you say is true in terms of credibility. Fans will watch and have to ask would Clubber turn down 100 million because he's betting on himself ? It would be another watered down sequel where the son didn't meet the the expectations like Drago Jr. .Comment

Clubber Lang was an orphaned street kid, caught up in crime, who went to prison, learned to box, basically self taught the rest of the way, got to his world title shot, won the title, lost the title, and then vanished from the story.
No family, no kids, no coach, no gym, nothing; to try and create something now for Clubber Lang would seem to be a waste of effort to me.
Unless you want to pull a George Foreman-esque story (after losing the title, Lang disappears, only popping up as an Evangelist/preacher years later, in the Alabama/Mississippi/Georgia region. Eventually he finds a woman for him, settles his Church, and then his son emerges), getting to Wilder from Lang is beyond tough (Could actually play Wilder's possible character up as a preacher's son, giving his everything to his father's church when, at 19/20, he sees that he just might be able to fight a bit).Comment

6'7" is a lot to work into a screen, but let's not act like it's some impossibilityComment
