Comments Thread For: Usyk Would Be Interested in Facing Chisora - Even Without a Title

According to Egis Klimas, the manager for heavyweight contender Oleksandr Usyk, there would be interest in facing Derek Chisora - even without a world title at stake. Promoter Eddie Hearn, who works with both boxers, had previously stated that he could see the contest taking place for the vacant WBO world title.

Usyk-Chisora would be a good bout to show he truly deserves the WBO mandatory, rather than just being gifted it due to having the belt at a lower weight. Hopefully this means the winner of Ruiz-Joshua 2 won't drop a belt. Fight Pulev in April/May for the IBF, Usyk for WBO or winner of Wilder-Fury 2 for undisputed in Aug/Sep and then whichever bout doesn't happen in the summer have in the next Christmas holidays.
I get the feeling Usyk might step aside for a couple of fights if he could have a shot at all the belts in one go (and get decent step-aside money).

Usyk will not step aside. He wants to fight a World Champ as soon as possible. He is doesn't have a loser mentality like those who take step aside money. Just keep in mind : Usyk is Olympic Gold medalist, unbeaten Undisputed World Champ. Thats the elite of entire boxing.

Chisora a decent fight, better then usyk staying inactive. Chisora will bring the pressure all night til hes out cold. Will be interesting to see how usyk deals with a real heavyweight that comes to fight.

And this is a fair proposal for Usyk, instead giving him a belt battle for nothing. It is a fair proposal for Chisora, too. The winner could eventually be taken into account for a belt battle in a due time.

If Joshua / Ruiz vacate WBO, then Chisora will have to wait in line. Usyk v Fury (busy with Wilder?), Parker (won't pass up Usyk), Kownacki (won't pass up Usyk) and Dubois ****won't pass up Usyk) are all next.

It’s cool to hear from someone who knows Usyk personally...

Give it a rest, Usyk likely beats Chisora, but he’s a cherry pick for no one. Ask Whyte how much he enjoyed those two wars with Chisora? Not a lot I’m guessing.

It’d be a good test for Usyk who’s stepping up in weight against an aggressive, come forward style brawler.

Only Fury can defeat Usyk. Wilder would look like an idiot in front of him
