    My biggest worry about DAZN

Unlike most boxing fans I think the competition between espn Dazn Fox etc is great for boxing.

My biggest worry about DAZN tho is their ability to make a mega fight when their fighter is not the overwhelming A side. For Fury vs Wilder for example it’s a ESPN/FOX co event but how can DAZN do that? When their fighter is the overwhelming A side it’s one thing but what happens when they are basically 50-50 and contracted with other networks?

It’s not like they can do what ESPN + does which is 5$ month ppv separate they would tank and no one paying 20$ when big fights are extra. DAZN don’t have the amount content espn does either most ESPN+ subs aren’t even for boxing. I’m generally curious what you guys think it doesn’t help that Dazn can’t even get their own top guys to fight each other let alone a fighter on another network

    Thoughts?

The Fury v Wilder fight isn’t really confirmed yet, despite what they say. I’ll still be surprised if ESPN and Fox work together on a PPV that won’t do mega sales. I understand if it’s a fight doing millions of sales, it’s worth it for both but for this fight? I’ll believe it when i see it.

But yeah you’re right, DAZN has no PPV platform and it’ll go against what they’re meant to be, so it’s going to be very difficult to do these big cross promotional fights unless it’s just on DAZN’s terms.

I suppose their only option is to make huge offers that fighters and their teams can’t refuse, but that’s going to be difficult. Wilders team effectively cost him $100m for 3 fights because DAZN is a rival network, they didn’t do what’s best for Wilder, they did whats best for their own companies. Wilder isn’t making that money now he stuck with Fox or Showtime.

So even if DAZN offer fighters far more money than they can make usually, their teams are going to block it due to ties to their own broadcasters.
