This why we love this sport but KSI vs Logan Paul isn’t any of those things. In fact it is the antithesis of what makes this sport so great.
It’s a shameless cash grab that cheapens those memories and disrespects the sacrifices that fighters have made for well over a century.
From Frankie Campbell, to Paret, to Koo Kim all the way to Patrick Day. Those guys didn’t literally give their lives to the sport, so two privileged kids can profiteer from it whilst damaging the integrity of the sport in the process.
For anyone tempted to consume this, ask yourself why do you watch boxing? Why watch a 6 round fight that has no significance, involves no skill and has no place in the sport? And remember if we consume this we are justifying it. Don’t let boxing be exploited by two YouTubers and a greedy, desperate promoter in an attempt to make a quick buck and gain cheap exposure.
I genuinely fear this fiasco could lead to more and more of these fraudulent events. And we could end up with a boxing product we never wanted or asked for.
