How many of you truly do believe this was a set up?

All the factors going against Sergei were known beforehand.
Kovalev was sought out just says after his fight with Yarde and was told it was Nov 2 or no fight. At that point, it was like they were cool with the fight being a scene out of Weekend at Bernie's. I just hoped for the best and hoped a good fight might happen, but they sure made it easy for Canelo critics....but IDK if any staging was necessaryComment

Kovalev cashed it out. I don't think he believes he would beat Beterbiev, and he can still fight Beterbiev and put on a real contest. For $12 - $15 million, if they want him to throw the fight, who cares ... he's already lost to Ward and E. Alvarez ... there's nothing to protect. Kov's leacy is still solid as a rock, with a blemish.
Sadly, I can't see many who wouldn't or won't throw a fight with Canelo for the money. Most others aren't in the conversation of "greatest ever" anyway.
That said, I hope Canelo does fight a Beterbiev if he remains at LHW. Hopefully someone will give him a real fight, even if they're gonna take a dive. Kov gets an "F" on this one ... he really didn't fight true to himself. Tired? Fighting for possible legacy AND $12 million?? Tired?
Sad. Oh well, on to the next!

I mean it did seem odd. When was the last time a big fight was like this where fans and even actual boxers (eubank jr, andrade and bodou jack) saying it looked like a sparring match/fixedComment
