I'd say a solid 5 years or more. All depends on his conditioning and if he gets into any heavy-handed wars. It won't be measured in age only, but wear and tear also. So far he is well-preserved, no heavy damage suffered.
I'm starting to believe that skill-wise....Canelo's up there with Floyd as far as longevity's concerned.
As mentioned, he hasn't been in any truly hard fights and his skills have gotten him this far.
I may be in the minority here, but we may see Canelo do what Floyd did at the tail end of his career...take big fights and long breaks.
There are some big and dangerous fights out there for him, but his ability to create his own events (read: pick lucrative fights), will eventually afford him the chance to either let those other guys fight each other or slow down enough for him to face them.
To answer the question though...I believe Canelo will start slowing down his fight activity in the next two years and we'll probably see him fight once a year until he's about 35.
Canelo doesn’t have the right body type for longevity. That thick upper body takes a toll on the knees, which we know already that Canelo has had lingering knee issues for years. I say Canelo has 3 or 4 fights left in his prime. Maybe 5 if 1 or 2 of those are soft touches.
He can fight on at a high level after that but probably only against guys that come right at him.
I hope he fights one more time and retires. He has nothing to prove. He’s the 2nd greatest fighter of all time now. Best Mexican fighter of all time. Last Saturday he passed Shavez!
Really depends what the next 4-5 years looks like for him. He's not even 30 yet BUT he's technically a 14 year Pro who learned on the job. Also, its hard to compare Floyd's longevity because Floyd was able to market himself as a Villain where both fans and detractors would hop fences to see his fights. The same doesn't really apply to Canelo as this past Saturday showed conceding to the UFC. I don't think Canelo fights consistently past 33-34.
