Canelo-Kovalev rematch should happen on Cinco de Mayo if this was not a sellout.

Alright, many people, myself included, believe that Kovalev’s performance against Canelo was pathetic on purpose, and he decided to sell himself out. We believe Kovalev was holding back from the opening bell.

Others here say that Kovalev was not recovered from the Yarde fight, did not have a training camp and was rushed into fighting Canelo.

Alright, well then let’s say this is true.

It would then make sense for Kovalev to rest up, have a full training camp, and rematch Canelo on Cinco de Mayo.

Kovalev got KO’d by an Alvarez twice. Maybe he can avenge his loss twice.

I think Canelo is moving on from Kovalev. A KO win is definitive. I mean, in his mind he thinks he beat GGG, and that they don't have any unfinished business. I'm sure he feels that way about Kovalev. Now, Sergei has this court appearance hanging over his head and who knows how that plays out, be may be looking at some prison time.

The Yarde thing is factual. The dive theory is wild speculation.

He would have had to literally start his training camp for Canelo in the ring against Yarde to achieve a full 10-week camp. To the day. He instead spent that time recovering.

I wouldn't mind a rematch, but I don't see why Canelo would want one.

        1. It was a strategic masterstroke to entice Kovalev with a career-high payday with the stipulation that by the time he recovered from Yarde, he would have no time for a training camp. That was the whole point (from Canelo's perspective).

        2. Simply nothing to gain. In boxing, you know people will forget the circumstances of the win. It's about positioning yourself to collect names & money with minimal risk. He collected Kovalev's name with very little risk. If they had a long history of bad-blood and it was a huge ticket seller, they could milk a rematch, but that's not the case. It would just be "Canelo vs Kovalev II, this time Canelo probably gets beat up for half the pay". Not attractive.

One group says Kovalev held back vs Canelo.
Another group says he didn't have a full training camp.
I'm in the group that says Kov's skills and stamina have been deteriorating since the Chilemba fight.
Kovalev had a great run but's it's over and he should get out now (He's already had 1 KO too many)

I'm in the camp that he didn't train at all unless he's a time traveler.

(He is past-prime too, but having 10 weeks to combine recovery + training + cutting between title fights is a much bigger problem than being past prime).

ofc kovalev was not ready for another training camp or a fight after almost getting knocked the **** out 2 months after the yarde fight.

everybody knew this, even kovalev knew it.

he took so much damage in this fight and probably suffered a severe concussion, if he would listen to a doctor he would not even train 2 months after the fight let alone go through a whole training camp with sparring and then another fight.

that´s why his punch resistance was lower than it normally would be and that´s why he was sluggish and groggy and not because he was paid to take a dive or something else some clueless couchpotates in here claim.

he can be happy if that fight, after suffering brain trauma 2 months before didn´t come at the cost for his long-term health in later years.

No thanks, Im over Canelo. Hes a ATG but when you sign a contract with DAZN they will make sure you win. Not worth watching anymore unless you just want to see him win even if its close or didnt. Cash cows get the nod.

Listen to the announcers during the fight. I almost turned it off it was so biased. They are being told who to push and that says something.

We saw Kovalev’s skills in the Eleider rematch, and against Yarde.

Saturday’s Kovalev couldn’t, or I should say wouldn’t even throw a proper jab.
