Why is Canelo's punch volume so low?

The guy throws so little, and when he does its like he's loading up for a big winging hook. Its been a problem since the Austin Trout fight.

Demetrius Andrade would easily outwork and outpoint him.

I think he has knee problems and that might limit his running in training. He has never had very good stamina. I think both GGG and Dervy can beat him by outworking him as GGG already did twice in my opinion. He said he wanted to unify middleweight but that meant fighting guys who might outwork him so he went after Kovalev instead. Maybe he has trouble making 160 now.

Quality over quantity. It amazes me how you wouldn’t know how many boxing gyms worldwide admire Canelo’s combination punching.

Canelo’s money punch is the left hook. He has this ATG juggernaut left hook from the bottom going up, like a power uppercut left hook. That shet is freaking amazing to see. He did that to Angulo off the bat in the first round, to GGG in the 2nd round of the rematch, and he finished Kovalev with that shot with the followup right cross on the chin.

It doesn’t get any better than that with 1-2 combinations. As Canelo always tells us in post fight interviews, patience and timing.

But to answer your question, Canelo was draining lots of water as a youngy and a power combo puncher. That stamina takes a toll.
