After getting screwed the first time, why did Golovkin go back for more of the same?

He could have took the moral victory from winning the first fight but getting robbed of the decision. Very much like Tyson Fury in the fight versus Deontay Wilder. We all saw who won, there is no doubt that GGG beat Canelo in the first fight, and that Fury beat Wilder. At that point, the draw on the record does not hurt the fighter in any way.

Golovkin could have moved on and chased other opponents, and he'd have been hailed as the rightful king at Middleweight. It also would have been a thorn in Canelo's side that they had to rob a draw.

But for some reason Golovkin was happy to go back in and get bummed a second time by Canelo and Golden Boy. Why was that? He ruined his resume doing that. Lost his 0. Killed the momentum in his career. Allowed Canelo and Golden Boy to further their narrative of Canelo being #1.

Just another example of, "every man has his price"?

For the record I had Golovkin winning the first fight, and the second fight was a draw.

Would you fight for $5 million when you could fight for $30 million...and he probably thought he could KO Canelo anyway...I thought GGG won both anyway but if he sold his 0 he sure as hell got compensated well for it...2 Nelo fights and then another $100 million from DAZN...who else would he have been able to fight besides Canelo anyway

So he picked money over his legacy? Okay that's fair enough. It's easy for me to sit here saying a fighter should pick legacy over $$$$$, but who wouldn't in those circumstances, right? He cashed out.

Canelo was his legacy fight, and his money fight...just because the judges say the fight went one way, doesn't mean it did...you have to call it like you see it my friend...and what good is a 0 if all you are doing is trying to protect it...0s are meant to be taken...legit or not...but yeah Canelo was his legacy and money fight.

I really felt he won the first fight and felt he could be more dominant in the second.

He doesn't understand that unless he got a KO, Canelo would always get the wink from the judges.

Pride always cometh before the fall.
