Could Gennady Golovkin beat Sergey Kovalev?

I have a feeling that Canelo has far surpassed Golovkin now. Those Mexican beef PEDs are no joke.

    Golovkin would knock Kovalev out.

But Golovkin would also lose to any other champion between 160 and 175.

He’s old and shot now. Just not as old and shot as Kovalev is.

Prime GGG vs this version of Kovalev? This is a total mismatch and only goes for 5-6 rounds and GGG wouldnt get outboxed like Canelo did for many rounds.

Prime for Prime GGG is a much better fighter than Canelo. Canelo dropped his belt to avoid a still prime GGG. A way past prime GGG still beat Canelo 8:4 in most peoples eyes.

This version of Sergey, yes he would. But again GGG is way past it too so who knows. But Sergey was gun shy and was using a weak jab all night.

Prime GGG vs this Kovalev? Kovalev's pitty pats would get destroyed.

            I agree.

GGG is phenomenal, let's not take anything away from Canelo though.

I think Golovkin would still beat Kovalev prime for prime. I remember Kovalev mentioning in a interview or something that they sparred and Golovkin dropped him hard. He said something along the lines of "he's a very good fighter" blah blah

I still believe it's Canelo 1 - 1 Golovkin. Golovkin is old now, and past prime.

I'm just glad we got to see them fight regardless because we ALL had the pleasure of watching these two actually fight. And not run the whole night

Golovkin never had the nuts to find out.

Why would I be talking about prime GGG? Current GGG versus current Kovalev?!

Yeah they are both shot, but Kovalev much more so. Even prime for prime Golovkin probably wins just because his chin is so much better.

Yep. Kovalev has lost his punch resistance and has been eyeing retirement for a while now. There is no killer instinct left in him.
