I don't think there's some grand, tightly woven conspiracy behind Kovalev fabricating low rehydration numbers that ties back to Canelo, or anything like that. It just seems like an absurdly low figure by the standards of the new normal. With his style clearly having changed under McGirt, there's no reason not to think the diet/weight approach has as well. But that low? What possible ulterior motive? I honestly don't know. Ego - such a low number sounds superficially impressive or something so he goes with hyperbole? Anyone's guess. Possibly true, but also sounds questionable enough where it raises an eyebrow even straight from Kov's mouth. Regardless, whatever truth to the clause(s) (two if one source is to be believed, and that's a big if), I think personally Kov's issues tonight stemmed less from that and more from questionable guidance from McGirt.

racist lol. canelo is whiter and has more western european dna than kovalev does - hell take a dna test and see how much 'mexican' dna canelo has.
anyway, great fight by canelo, he has to be undisputed p4p#1 after that. you have to reward the guys with balls who move up two weight classes and win a world title fromm a legit champion. rigo, kell brook and mikey garcia all got clowned when they moved up, canelo persevered and got a legit finish.
canelo is the man now, full stop. ggg TALKED about fighting bigger men, canelo actually DID IT. I'd like to see canelo at smw or clean shop at mw tbh, if he sticks around at lhw then he is a crazy mofo with big (red) balls. respect.Comment
