The reality is that Canelo is at his peak NOW, not 2 years ago, 5 years ago or 8 years ago. He fought a lot of fighters who were at their peak when he had yet to reach his peak. He also fought a lot of "legends" who had passed their peak. Who was being taken advantage of?

The interesting question is who will Canelo fight now that he is at his peak? Will he fight other young champions or will he fight has-beens and second-tier fighters. I think he will choose to fight his top contemporaries.

My hunch is that no matter who Canelo fights people will continue to denigrate him. He is hated with as much fervor as Muhammed Ali was in his prime. I know this will shock some, but Ali was one of the most hated men in America for a time. But as with Ali and others, in the end, the invective and babblings of the current crop of critics is irrelevant and History will make its own judgment about Canelo.

It's just a fact that Mosley and Cotto were at the end of their careers when Alvarez fought them and the same is true for his fight with Kovalev. As for Golovkin, the fact is he vacated the MW title rather than fight GGG in 2015 and didn't fight him for 2 years.

Tell us of these gift decisions you mean, the 3 fights he outlanded his opponents in power shots & 1 sided totals of body shots?

Those fights where he still only barely won by split decisions despite being the fighter who landed the best most cleanest punches & in the ggg rematch despite ggg picking the judges including the same judge that said he won 1st fight & judges that gifted ggg a several pt win over Jacobs. Who did morales beat that demonstrates your pt about canelo,& hes considered a supposed legend? Canelos resume shts all over morales difficulty wise considering the size of his opponents & for how many yrs in a row Canelo has been able to maintain his elite level by fighting almost exclusively champions,& considering the sheer amount canelo has faced since he wasn't even in his prime.

That is so true and everyone with a brain knows it. Just deluded clenelo fans will act like he fights the best. It proved everything when after he beat Cotto he vacated to avoid GGG for another 2 years and still lost to him once for sure. I actually still believe GGG won twice but I would be okay with the second one being a draw. Erislandy Lara beat him too. Next he will fight GGG probably who by now will deteriorate even more and sadly I actually believe he will be able to beat him for real next time. But thank you Erik Morales for stepping up and being a Mexican who speaks the TRUTH!
