You guys all seem to forget that Kovalev’s pending a lawsuit of $8mil. If the stories are true, that damages on the woman... I don’t see how Kovalev could win that case.

Furthermore, if Kovalev’s happy, it could very well be that everything is set in play for him, win or lose, to finalize a deal with the victim. A highly garnished pay...but Kovalev doesn’t suffer a debt if he didn’t get this fight?

Just seems like a pending deal might have been presented to the victim. This fight just need to finalize

I know very little about his pending court case, however $8m is an outlandish amount, its the kind a family might sue for if he had murdered their daughter / son. Until he's proven innocent/guilty, I won't speak to the validity of the accusation either.

However that aside, he looks very happy and very relaxed. He's had 2 very big pay days and has literally nothing to lose here.

My interest in this fight is suddenly peaking all of a sudden

Well of course it’s Kovalev’s legal team trying their best to close an amount significantly lower than what the victim wants. And the jury can’t include any other Kovalev altercations for that particular case. Though I’m sure the jury has read more about Kovalev. In the end it’s the jury that concludes the amount. I know these types of cases don’t have Jury though, just the judge.

I think Kovalev will go for broke in this fight, no pun intended. If he were to KO Canelo it brings a bigger pay for fights to come. Team Kovalev banking on a KO or a win at all costs.

Remember that Canelo got sued for $8mil against his previous promoter and lost. Months later, GBP helped Alvarez recoup that loss by making the Chavez Jr. PPV.
