That was total BS. The weight limit for that fight was 168 but the 175 pound world title was also on the line. How can a guy win a title at 157 when neither fighter is allowed to weigh over 168?????? It was just a BS trick to give popular Leonard a bogus ligh heavyweight title he did not earn. It has been done before the correct way twice by Tommy Hearns who moved up to 175 to beat Vigil Hill who was the best light heavyweight champ and that fight was at the full 175 as it should be. Canelo is also moving up to the full 175 so he is doing that the right way. Today there are 4 champions to chose from at 175 and most consider Kovalev the weakest and most beatable of the 4 champions Canelo could have fought. In fact for over a year Bivol has been asking Canelo to fight him at 168. Canelo is a 4.5 to 1 betting favorite to bea Kovalev. If Canelo wins it will be a much better win than Leonard's win in my opinion because Kovalev is a better fighter than Donny and the fight will be at the full 175 and not at a BS 168.

Canelo learned about weight draining from this fight.

175 is the maximum for LHW, there is no minimum weights for divisions.

That said though, Lalonde should have been able to weigh in at the 175 maximum.
