It's nothing to do with patriotism, I just think most UK fans struggle the pidgin English 95% of American fighters/people speak. All you have do is view a few threads on this website. It's hard for us to comprehend just how uneducated a nation the USA is.

In reference to the original post SRCJJ; I would have to say a little from column A, a little from column B. He's undoubtedly VERY thick (as can be see from his pathetic attempt at winning over English fans before the Calzaghe fight by wearing an England shirt: beyond belief), but he hopefully, wait, do I mean hopefully? Yes, I mean hopefully, he also has some brain damage.

Lacy was just another example of America's desperate "search for the next Mike Tyson". People have to realize that there was only one Mike Tyson and that it may be a long time before we get someone remotely similar. Even before Lacy fought a live body people were already talking him up as a carbon copy of Tyson, but of course real boxing fans knew he was indeed far too slow, clumsy and lacking the key fundamentals that made Tyson successful; handspeed, ingenious combinations, highly explosive footwork, and speed. Lacy had none of these, but the fact that his style resembled a (very) poor man's Tyson, combined with his nearly perfect record (outside of one NC) caused him to be hyped to ridiculous proportions.

So Jeff is probably the best example of an overrated fighter from the past several years...and that is very unfortunate, because i think he is a nice guy and a decent fighter, and really doesnt deserve the backlash that he's been getting ever since Calzaghe pasted him
