I'm not trying to dispute it or argue about it, I saw the video, I'm just confused about his intent.

I guess it has to be something wrapped like that. Taking padding out to hurt someone and thereby build confidence is silly because you have to know you took the padding out and can't really hurt anyone with intact gloves on. Hurting some no name hardly build reputation though....it's just ****ish no matter how you warp it.
