  • Should ggg have gone to Mcgirt,& why I think Kov is at his best right now & might ko

Im a big Canelo fan because I believe hes by far the most proven boxer of the last 10 yrs that most embodies prior atgs like Duran/Leonard that were able to go toe to toe with anyone big or small of any style or class & therefore takes the most risks(even if you think he lost a few), of any boxer of this era from a very young age.(its not debatable he risks most imho except maybe pac who is an atg & lost tons & was kod & also cherrypicked )

I am also a prior huge Kovalev detractor that used to call him foldalev & sht on him because he was mentally weak & arrogant to the pt that he like Eubank jr thought he knew it all & didn't need a trainer.

But Kovalev at this exact moment is imho the most skillful all around dangerous version of himself to date for the simple fact that he started listening to his trainer & finally found a trainer that gets him. Since going to Mcgirt( whom I think is among the best iq trainers atm)I think his results speak for themselves.Hes had 2 straight shutout victories against 2 undefeated lions 1 of which kod him & he immediate rematched him & beat him from pillar to post in a absolute schooling(aka he did what AJ will be asslicked 4 eternally if he pulls off).

As usual the minute nelo started calling him out, whatever kov did became meaningless to rabid blind Nelo haters/gggroupies scorned who if one listens closely can be heard on rooftops across the globe screaming at clouds that ggg was robbed.(which is surely why he took 9 mos off to heal & then returned vs a mega no hoper followed by getting beat by Derev, after all thats what robbed rightful champs do after running outta rings crying about getting exposed & being fos about wanting opponents to brawl) .

Yarde was seen as someone who can ko kov despite being very green, hes enormous & powerful & much younger with nothing but kos til kov. The fight was basically a pickem fight in which yarde was a slight dog the same as ggg vs nelo 1 odds. And just because Kovalev took a rd off during a 10 rd obliteration of yarde. The haters pulled out their pre sharpened knives as fast as switchblades to say Yarde was garbage. Yarde only outlanded kov by 8 punches 26 to 34 in rd 8 which was the rd everyone is now using to say kovs washed up. And despite Kovalev landing & throwing more punches his last 2 fights than ever before & multiple times what nelo ever has, suddenly hes supposedly old & washed up. Be..be... because Nelo chose him instead of reverse BenGGGamin button g, therefore it must be because Nelo knows hes easy work, heaven forbid he chose him to satisfy Dazn & to attempt making history while winning FOTD, surely Nelos resume of fighting who haters said he wouldn't & who they said would ko him from early age means anyone he fights is a cherry, despite even Charlo giving him props now....

But I digress,Ggg meanwhile has decided to fire who sired him into boxing when he was a twinkle in Jim Lampleys eye. He no longer says running is for püsßies,he no longer wants all the belts,no longer mexican etc etc.

But he went with a trainer in Banks who has further ruined him worse than the husk nelo left behind. Now his style is literally to do what he sucks at(moving backwards & freezing up when attacked) while still trying to headhunt opponents(even vs Nelo he threw 80% arm punches & both trainers have said he didn't do what he trained & froze up when attacked). My pt is that had he chosen Mcgirt & his style he implanted on Kov now,he too would be having a rebirth because just as Kovalev needed to learn how to slowly win rds while breaking opponents down, ggg needs to learn to fight like the new more all around well rounded version of Kovalev. I genuinely believe that not only is Kovalev far more dangerous 4 nelo but that ggg wouldn't stand a chance vs kov.

I don't understand how anyone could possibly not realize Nelo chose this fight as a huge gamble despite even gomez saying hes never advised so strongly against a fighter taking a fight after decades in the matchmaking game since Mosely vs Margacheato.

Canelo saw a weakness in Kovalev. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that Kovalev can't take it to the body. Canelo is a body puncher, do the math. Notice Canelo wasn't accepting Bivol's challenge, not at 168 or 175. It's not a good style match up for him. Beterbiev would actually be a good style match up for him, but can he hurt him? Kovalev was/is the weakest link to a LHW title. I still give Canelo credit for going up to the full 175 to fight him. It's a risky fight and I think McGirt has done an excellent job teaching Kovalev how to stay behind his jab and keep out of range. I don't think it will be enough to keep Canelo off of him.

As for McGirt training GGG. Golovkin was not going to learn any new tricks after 350+ amateur fights and 40 as a pro. He was looking for a yes-man in his corner who would work for peanuts. That's what he got.

Heres the thing, had nelo chose Bivol all the talk would be that he ducked Kov for a smaller man with no experience. And in boxing certain fights make no sense whatsoever because no reward & all risk. Nobody knows wtf Bivol even is & Dazn wouldn't have paid Nelo to fight him & he def wouldn't win FOTD because hardly anyone would even care(casuals have no clue who he is,kov brings just as many subs to Dazn as Ggg would've especially since hes already on Dazn anyways & his fans already subbed). Out of the only available lhws Kov made the most sense & is imho better atm than Bivol/Gvoz,I said Beterbieve would ko everyone at lhw since way before which is why Shadow702 bet me that kov would win & I said he would get kod by Beterbieve, the nail & Bivol are very overrated imho, they've done nothing over kov whos miles more proven imho.

Since the gvoz fight I've seen many comments that now realize Gvoz got lucky vs the ex pedopimp & countless that say Bivols the weakest link at lhw(whether it's true or not it shows Nelo wouldn't get the same hype/prestige for Bivol & history remembers names over substance)

I don't think a single soul would be saying that. Kovalev is without a doubt the worst champion in the division currently. Kovalev is definitely the most popular name though so that makes Canelo look better too.

If Nelo loses to Kovalev, I hope he seeks greatness again, the 4th divisional title against Beterbiev...

Look at the compubox of kovs last 2 fights in comparison to prior yrs & also compared to Nelo & you'll see statistically hes more youthful than ever because he throws FAR more punches than Nelo while landing at as high or higher accuracy & its a known fact that aside from Beterbieve hes the biggest puncher at lhw(regardless if you think he still is gvoz hasn't proven his power nearly as much). I think one must also remember that before the gvoz fight many countless fans/insiders said Beterbieve looked like sht & was almost kod by a supposedly lower level opponent ,& he was woefully inactive & had signed vs gvoz way before nelo was in the market for a lhw. Most on bsn afaik said gvoz by ko

            canelo-jacobs-compubox-punch-stats

            ward-kovalev-compubox-punch-stats

            kovalev-alvarez-rematch-compubox-punch-stats-1

I don't think it's rocket science to see that a fighter who throws & lands far more than his much smaller weaker opponent, should be automatically favored to win as well as not be seen as some old plodder and vs Eleider Alvarez 2 kov threw more than 800 punches, almost double as he did vs Ward, that to me shows he has among the best stamina around at this moment

GGG went with the cheapest trainer he could find, a guy who used to be an assistant. So I don’t think it was about finding a tactful trainer like McGirt who for sure would have wanted more money. Also with Golovkin it doesn’t matter who trains him because once in the ring he wasn’t even listening to Abel Sanchez either, he basically gos on his own plan when the fight gets tough for him. Just pay attention to the shet Banks was trying to incorporate: head movements and defense. GGG only does this at media workouts but he has yet to use this in a fight.

I can't buy off on the Bivol angle simply because Canelo moved up to 168 for Fielding, a way more obscure fight against a guy who lost to the best at 168. It was a nothing fight for a nothing title. Not a legacy builder.

Gvozdyk is still the best boxer of all the LHW despite his loss to Beterbiev. Long ago I felt Kovalev was overrated. I still think he defeated Ward in their first match, and he lost on low blows in the rematch. Kovalev doesn't have the grit in him as a fighter, and that is what you need against Canelo. Beterbiev and Bivol to a lesser degree, can mix it up more and won't be bullied on the inside.

                  heres the anti canelo/golovkin fan

"kovalev lost like 3 out of his last 8 and was ko'd twice...this is an easy cherrypick for canelo but what else is new"

in another thread about both ward/kovalev fights

"kovalev was robbed and cheated twice...I don't consider either fight to be a loss for him...the judges and hometown ref robbed him twice"....

Fielding was literally a victory lap fight to showcase nelo in msg & get him another belt 3 mere mos after G,he was a complete cherry that barely got like 3 mil or something,Bivol would be imho no more & no less challenging than kov(because they each matchup in different ways), would need much more money than Fielding & because FOTD is going to be awarded soon wouldn't affect Nelos standing as much as a well known name like Kov. Bivol wouldn't bring near the Dazn subs as Kov

Lets look at Bivols resume, who has he beat of note? Unlike Fielding hed be all risk no reward & would be forgotten soon afterwards if he lost.

Jacobs was #2 mw champ & nelos last fight & Nelo outlanded him 2-1 in 8 separate rds,yet that barely moved the needle sort of speak,& Bivol would too just because he barely has any fights,& beaten nobody of even Yardes fame afaik,Kov is a future hofer already & ranked as basically consensus#1 in most ranking such as ring. Basically I genuinely doubt Dazn would've approved Bivol whatsoever so out of kov/Andrade/or even Charlo kov is imho the most prestigious??
