    why do the foreigns...

have such a hard time understanding that if you flip flopped wilders and AJs accents and places of birth you would also flip flop their money and popularity?

why do the foreigns act as if AJs style is so entertaining and hes so charistmatic that this is what put him ahead of wilder as far as global popularity and money?

wilders money and popularity(which is very good btw) is a reflection in the lack of interest in boxing in the US...that is all...plain and simple

and wilder is doing pretty well.....between fury fight and ortiz 2 fight hes bout to make about 30 mil in a year and a half.....how many US boxers that are active have made that in a career?

Wilder would be more popular in the UK for sure, but as popular as AJ? Doubtful...the gold medal (in london), looks, reserved personality count for a lot with casuals. Hes a perfect marketing storm.

hes a good marketing storm no doubt.......but id reckon wilder would be just as popular......reserved personality? i mean yeah ok....but its not like people dont follow or like brash fighters.....plus wilders highlight reel ko's....a little trash talk(wilder is actually a very humble man IRL but he knows when to talk it up)....yeah maybe wilder wouldnt be doing underwear ads....but hed be right there me thinks with AJ if you flip flop them

still...some act like wilder is just some bum loser who has no money....in the US boxing market hes doing better than anyone...and its not a strong market

He would not for the reasons stated, is Fury? More charismatic and a bigger personality than Wilder, better fighter than Joshua. I dont think you really understand people here, they prefer humble athletes in general...Naseem Hamed was a one off, but he played up to the villain role, and his style in the ring, the vulnerability, and the equaliser sold him. It was Ricky Hattons humility in front of cameras and the "everyday man" that made him a superstar over here, and that's been more the norm I would say.

Lewis Hamilton is currently the best sportsman in this country, and one of the best ever. If he was from other European countries, or American, he would be more celebrated, prob have a statue somewhere. He will prob break most if not all of Schumachers records...not popular. Hes too flash, has weird haircuts, doesnt do conventionalism, and can be a bit of a jerk...for some reason over here those things count more than a serial winner, people can be a bit strange here.

Heavyweights in this country especially good ones are hugely popular, so no doubting Wilder would have a big profile, but I dont think he'd be as big as AJ for the reasons in my first post. And I agree he is pretty humble in real life, you can tell, but that's not the way he sells himself.

Just a side note, his purses have increased a lot off the back of a potential Joshua fight and Eddie Hearn, that's just a fact. Hearn put Haymon, Showtime, Finkle under pressure because of the DAZN offers, realistically I think you need to acknowledge that and be honest when looking at the bigger picture.

No AJ has the Gold and the role of the good humble guy knocking out opponents who played the bad mouthy guy (Whyte, Breazealle, Martin) it's marketing gold. He's also had a passing of the torch fight with Klitschko as far as the casuals were concerned.

Wilders got a Bronze (not bad just not as good) and fought 40 odd nobodies up until Ortiz (still a nobody as far as casuals are concerned) which was after AJ had fought Klitschko. So like Yarde he would have got a lot of flack for saying he's the best etc. and never beating the best and having super padded record. His a loudmouth claiming to be the best never really proven it and makes low class comments like wanting a body, that doesn't go down well here.

I'd say Wilder lack of popularity is due to his lack of credible opponents so he hasn't made much noise.

Do you really think most AJ fans cared about boxing before AJ?
