Floyd Never made 154-WBC/WBA Defenses, what does ''Franchise Protection'' Matter?

Floyd and Haymon didn't need ''Franchise'' benefits because Floyd didn't defend his 154 belts from 2013-2015. Ok, so Floyd couldn't book anything after Sept. 2013 we get it, but from May 2014 to Berto 2015, Floyd's ''Franchise'' benefits had him ducking Lara or even before, Sergey Rabchanka.

Wouldn't Undefeated Rabchanka at the time be like ''Interims'' waiting for the mando opportunity? Did Floyd need Rabchanka?

Of course Showtime had the money and the WBC took dem checks innit!

Lol Floyd never had a mandatory enforced on him in his life. He was basically franchise champion without the official title.

It’s because he was the champion at 151.5 pounds and not 154.

No one else fights in that weight class.

I’d rather have that than potentially 7 WBC/WBA champions at one weight

          Catch weight joke?

Then mention PACQUIAO cuz he’s the catchweight king! I believe he won 3 of his belts at catchweights, including his famous 154 title win...at a catch weight of 150 pounds for a VACANT title against a UNRANKED Margarito LOL

You're right, of course in the sense that the real $$$ names in the sport have always done what they please, it's just it's never been codified before so we were allowed to live with illusion that the sanctioning orgs were somehow neutral in the matter or simply powerless to do anything to stop it. This is basically official recognition that the WBC are right on board with giving certain fighters the absolute right to do as they please... it ain't really a reflection on the fighters themselves - neither of whom can really be accused of having sought out weak opposition - but of the WBC itself for bascally giving up any claim to neutrality or even the pretense of fairness towards the 99.99% of fighters who aren't 'franchise champs'.

TBE (not The Best Ever) fought Guerrero when WBC appointed the latter as the mandatory challenger...

He was the champion at 151.5 AND 154 at the same time...

No, GrandPac was never the king at Catchweight... Only TBE (not The Best Ever) had won the Lineal Catchweight Championship when he beat Canelo at 152 which he only defended once against Maidana during their second fight...
