The WBC is preventing undisputed championships

Every boxing fan hopes to see undisputed champions in every weight class.

The WBC is actively working to make sure that never happens.

    How you ask?

Well if you win three titles and one of them is the WBC, you’re going to become a franchise champion before becoming undisputed. The regular WBC goes to someone else, making the WBC championship a disputed title.

The only ways to become undisputed now is to:

win the WBC title last after winning the other three first.

win the WBC title first and then add the other three at once.

Unify two titles and then add the other two in a single fight.

And even if you do follow those rules and manage to become undisputed, the wbc will name you franchise champion almost immediately, ending your run as undisputed champion before it ever really starts.

    Thanks WBC!

Yea it's very idiotic. It would create too much of a power struggle between the sanctioning bodies to make one belt per division. The fans are just stuck with this unfortunate way of creating false champions. For now.
