I definitely disagree with the second recommendation. Let it be known, 'wraps condemns it!
What I would be in favor of, is shorter rounds in a fight. It can still be a chess match, and no it doesn't favor faster starting come forward fighters. I'm a defensive minded slick feather fisted fighter myself and all you need is a round to go to work. Every round is a chessmach in microcosm, so you don't lose any real quality of what boxing is at the core. All it does do, is speed things up a bit, and creates urgency sooner.
That said, this is the oldest sport known to man. A true blood sport. A gladiator sport. And these are grown men both willing to participate in it, and get paid to do it. I say let them fight to the death if they want to. I both watch, and box regularly myself, and take the risks that go with it.
