I think Atlas might've ruined his fighter by not stopping it,& now he won't be the same from here on because he took a ton of shots late?
No way should Atlas had thrown in the towel.

What Gvozdyk should have done was try to survive more, and stop trying to trade. Beterbiev's entire plan all along was to take him into deep waters and hammer him to the body. Then, go up to the head once Gvozdyk tired out and dropped his guard. This is why he took so many shots early on and was never worried, because he knew his purpose.

Gvozdyk should have moved more and stopped trying to trade so late in the fight. He should have taken more time to recover and try to grind out the last few rounds, focus on defense more rather then countering Beterbiev thus opening himself up even more. This played into Beterbiev's hand. Then possibly go all out in the last 30 seconds of the 11th or one last hurrah during the 12th.

Once you've won a few early rounds, you need to straregize and make sure you make it to the final bell because the judges can have you up by a few at the point you get tired late in the fight. Especially when you know what's in front of you, and you know you run the risk of getting stopped. It's not ideal, but you have to make the best out of the cards you are dealt. A fighter with more experience would have probably done this. All the energy he had, he expended trying to fight fire with fire which was a big no-no.

So to answer your question, hell no Atlas shouldn't have stopped it, it's a goddamn unification fight. And yes, the no-knockdown ruled by the ref was horrible. This should have indicated to Gvozdyk that he was in no position to keep trading and leaving himself open for more punches as well as tiring himself out even more.

"Veteran" tactics would have helped him finish the fight. Maybe he could have eeked out a draw or SD lost which would have been less damaging to him both career and punishment wise.

I actually noticed Beter getting hurt momentarily on numerous occasions. Never would he have been dropped for the count.....but flash knockdown? It easily could've happened

            He should of mauled him
As I said before the fight ( wishful thinking )
I wish that he would of been knocked down or hurt
Every time that happens it triggers him and then you see savage
            Showed to much respect
He could of gotten him out very early by doing his bull rushing
I know what you are saying, but Gvozdyk has legit one punch KO power. I'm sure Beterbiev was just silently weathering the storm and gauging the fight as it progressed. He did mention afterwards that he would train 'properly' for his next fight so we shall see.

I think the question is what did Beterbiev only fans expect? Gvozdyk did what I expected early, which was constantly move and outbox Beterbiev at range, hit him with hard shots to the head and body. Gvozdyk looked a million bucks, it's just that Beterbiev was too strong and can take a punch.

Every single fight that happens the winner was dominant and the loser sucks, but that isn't the case. Gvozdyk looked as good as ever but Beterbiev weathered the storm and broke Gvozdyk down. It was a great fight

Did you see how many hard rights Beterbiev took? A lesser fighter would have been stopped, the fight could have went either way as far as I was concerned before the fight but Beterbiev showed he was much tougher than what most people would predict
Good post..basically my sentiments so far...haven't watched the whole fight...no one really knew how either guy would really react to the other's shots...now we know

Beterbiev will beat him every time
The only difference would be , Beterbiev would win much more convincingly
                It’s Beterbiev Time
Bring on Bivol and yeah , if you wanna see him retire Kovi
Nothing can stop this guy unless unfortunately he gets old overnight

I see, so he hindered from the start. I would have hid that from the public as a boxer . I would just think of the term " I'm going to nail him throughout the fight " . when you are a nail you recieve force you don't give it.

And I mean, the nail got hammered? Some boxing writer has to use this somewhere! It's too cool! At least in my opinion.

I would love to see either guy meet the Kovalev-Canelo winner or Bivol. This is a hot division.
                    i can't do this, i use a nail gun
