How to get organised crime out of boxing: 'Make the purses very small'...

That's the crux of it though, wherever there's serious money to be made there's gonna be corruption and men willing to do whatever it takes to get a share of the pie. Boxing and organised crime have gone together since the sport began. Anyone who doesn't understand this probably needs their blinkers removing.

Most stopped taking action in 2010 altogether , a big bust happened many top guys did time of some sort , They never really recovered , some just got out not long ago, with the indictment of certain ppl it hurt them bad , the mob in the U.S isn't as influential as it waś .

Corruption in boxing isn't fixing fights with a fighter its really buying rankings now and the crooks are the actual organizations making belts , influencing judges and buying out social !media outlets to persuade views by out right lying.

        Very interesting.

He talks about trying to reach don King and don king responding back that he had tax and other problems with the gov and "now wasnt a good time" but not really saying no. Trying to reach Donald Trump and seemingly not contacting him.

That buddy mcgurt (when he was a fighter) had some of his purse taken from him for the mob and that its very possible he had no idea his money was going to the mob.

          Literally

One cool tidbit from the super early days in America is the classic cowboy in a ******** bar scenes historians keep telling folks never happened and hollywood made up, did, most certainly, happen. They were boxers clearing out bars though, not cow chasers. So, technically the historians aren't lying. Technically.

Another interesting bit is around the time boxing was becoming a sport in the US criminality was also gaining a foothold in US politics. Sometimes the same exact men, let alone outfit, would be rigging fights and elections.

One could easily claim without the gangs and crime lords boxing would have never been a legal sport in the US, or at least taken much longer to bring public opinion around.

I remember reading that Sammy used to spar with former HW Renaldo Snipes. Used to get his ass kicked but still went back for more. Gotti used to tell him he was crazy to spar a former pro.

The purses are anything but small today and the Mafia left an opportunity for someone else to make money. Gravano said he doesn't even know what the State Commissions do. There is zero chance that boxing isn't corrupt as hell.

Renaldo Snipes was silently managed by a member of one of New York's most powerful families. Not the first nor the last. The money is used but the names aren't.
