  • Comments Thread For: Witherspoon: Usyk Would Out-Point Ruiz; Joshua Fight Tougher

Chazz Witherspoon was reluctant at first to discuss whether Andy Ruiz Jr. or Anthony Joshua would represent a greater challenge for Oleksandr Usyk. "I don't know," Witherspoon told BoxingScene.com after his technical-knockout defeat to Usyk on Saturday night in Chicago. "I don't like making predictions on people. But I don't know. We'll see. It depends on who wins that fight. I think that definitely matters, who wins that fight, who he'll fare better against. You know what I mean?"

I'm inclined to agree. Joshua might not have the toughest chin, but he uses his legs and range well. He was using them well against Ruiz, until he got overconfident (IMO) after dropping him. Usyk could repeat the same strategy, but with the understanding that Ruiz can hurt you when you're close to him. If Ruiz can only be effective when he's throwing combinations, then he may not even make it past Joshua II.

Yeah but he wont need the toughest chin against Usyk. Yeah bad fight for Usyk, he better hope Ruiz wins...who I'm not sure he beats either, that ones a toss up.

Usyk just starts way too slow and he can be hit and countered with big punches. I thought maybe he could beat like a Parker but now I doubt it, I may even favor Kownacki. If Usyk lets these guys get going early they'll wear him down quick, he has to start guns blazing and I don't think thats him.

I think the key to the HW's beating Usyk is to use a bit of brutality early on and stop him before he truly gets started. He always starts slow and takes 2 or 3 rounds to figure out his opponents, then it's almost like his mind is a split second ahead of time and he sees everything coming.

Ruiz isn't going to defeat AJ who's easier style for him , forget Usyk, easy points win.

Usyk would probably KO Joshua, but he wouldn't be able to handle the speedy combinations and pressure of the Destroyer.

Ruiz is 6 feet flat or 183 centimeters in reality!
