Comments Thread For: Reassessing the Sport After the Shields-Habazin Cancellation

By Mitch Abramson - When Tyson Fury got into Deontay Wilder's face during their traveling press conferences before their match in December, the two were following an age-old formula of trash talking to sell a fight. Fury yelled at Wilder and Wilder yelled back, and they traveled to another city and did it all again. Despite the chaotic...

I mean both of views are correct. Basically it was a bad apple. And also heightened security or separate weigh ins etc would have made a difference.

Weigh-ins should most definitely NOT be closed to the public. Fans can get hyped for those almost as much as for the fight itself. See the big crowds in Vegas when Canelo goes to the scales.

Just make sure to have adequate security who is alert to everything that is happening and doesn't let things get out of hand.

Entire possee's should not be allowed on stage. The fighters and trainers only. The ****** ***e B@tch had NO reason to be up there interfering with the trainer trying to do his JOB and seeing the scale.

Don't bring your "crew" to weigh ins.

          problem solved.

I agree there's usually too many people on stage at the weigh ins. Easy enough for an incident. However, The assault occurred off stage nevertheless, less people and more security is probably the answer.

Just think all that hard work put in was for FREE! Shields should be sued especially if that was her brother who did it. She’s the CEO of that team and like most you can be sued for sht your employees do on the clock...

Good news it was her brother who did this and he was out on parole if weapons and battery charges. He won’t be out for awhile now. Hitting a 70 year old man in Cali is extra time. Probably in Michigan it’s a badge of honor.
