Liam williams or johnson would have been better options in my opinion. But looking at the wbc's ranking, the future doesn't seem all that bright for charlo as most of the ranked guys are very average. I like pbc but charlo should move to dazn after this. It would be better for his career
How is fighting on an app that very few people have or pay attention to going to be better for Charlo's career?

Demetrius Andrade took the leap, and has basically done jack **** to make him a bigger name (Tevin Farmer is basically in the same spot). Heck, if it wasn't for the 4 years on HBO and standing next to Canelo for two press runs (and basically thirsting for him for years before that), Golovkin would be in that same spot.

So, until the Canelo fight does/doesn't happen, Jermall Charlo will continue to build his profile, fighting on a premium channel in 35m+ homes/streams or in 150m+ homes on free-to-air TV, against whomever, while the DAZN middleweights slip further and further out of the picture.

Charlo was on the WBC path, Derevyanchenko was on the IBF path, and Daniel Jacobs was on the WBA path (before getting a second shot from the IBF).

No one is afraid of anyone, everyone is in the room to see what the money is, and all basically had similar starpower.

The governing bodies will do what they do, but there's no real reason to rush a fight that would be easy to make that would be worth double if the paths worked out the way they were planned.

Derevyanchenko went down the IBF path, Derevyanchenko-Jacobs both made good money on their fight, Derevyanchenko stuck on the IBF path, and then "settled" for making another $5m+ to fight Golovkin (in a fight that folks think he won).

December may be too soon, but putting Derevyanchenko on as the chief support at Barclays Center (the Charlo card would've been perfect, but the plan works just fine on the likely February card from Barclays), before setting up a late Spring/early Summer fight with Jermall isn't all that hard to see.

And both guys would get paid handsomely, compared to what both would've made had they rushed the fight.

... Jermall Charlo went from being arguably the best 154lb fighter on the planet to being rated #3 MW by the WBC before his first middleweight fight.

Crawford at least has a few prospects to fight. Charlo has nobody really.
What are you talking about? Jermall Charlo I sitting on a Showtime Championship Boxing date from the same platform that just paid $50m+ per year, for the next 4 years, to air at least 12 Showtime Championship Boxing cards per year.

It's likely not dollar for dollar, but it wouldn't be much of a stretch to assume that Charlo is sitting on a $4m rights fee (main event, plus at least two supporting fights) for HIS show, plus that UK ITV rights deal for PBC cards, plus the fact that Charlo doesn't do too bad at the box office either.

I know that there are a ton of hands in the pot, but it wouldn't shock me to see Charlo clearing $2m+ a fight at this point or in the near future, with his opponent on anywhere up to $750k depending on the level.

Alvarez is Alvarez, and Golovkin and Jacobs got silly bumps for parlaying Alvarez, but how many middleweights can really turn down $750k? Maybe Murata with the Japanese money, and maybe Saunders with UK TV, but that's kinda it.

If Tevin Farmer was on $2m for 4 fights with Lou DiBella fighting for, I doubt that Andrade was on anywhere near even that.

Crawford will work with what's available to him, but no different than with any other fighter, he strings together good fights, the audience looking at him will grow, and the money will keep growing, leaving these other middleweights mad as **** that their management is freezing them out of money.

Just not many options for Charlo...not sure how his career will play out...just kind of sucks honestly...I like the guy and would give him a puncher's chance vs anyone around 160...but man besides Trout Korobov and JRock he has like nothing at all...just not sure what his list of opponents will end up being.

Fights like this leave me wanting to see a UFC type promotion in boxing...where one promoter makes the fights we want to see
The Korobov rematch is viable for this Summer (let Korobov get a win first), Derevyanchenko made a good account of himself (same win needed), Willie Monroe Jr is sitting on three wins so far, and there are rumblings of Jarrett Hurd moving up to 160lbs as well.

Not the absolute greatest options, but he's got good fights on top, plus he's got time on his side.

Canelo has fights to look at, but the pool will run dry, and he's still telling Golovkin to go **** himself. DAZN wants the Golovkin fight for 2020, so Canelo needs to deliver two fights instead.

Assuming a win versus Kovalev, DAZN really can't say **** if Canelo delivers the Andrade fight in May, and either Saunders or Charlo for September.

Hogan deserved a Mungia rematch which he was never getting. This fight seems like a mismatch but Hogan is pretty durable and hasn't been knocked out...yet! Hopefully there is a decent undercard for this event.
Andrade would still need to show out, against whomever he fights in December then.

I always root for Andrade but his style lacks excitement. There is undefeated brazilian Esquiva Falcao who is also a southpaw. Would be an interesting matchup.

Jermall Charlo has become a huge joke in boxing.
                  Don't even dislike the guy because he always goes for the kill;
no running, no holding, he's entertaining, tbh.
Haymon is the root cause of all these nonsensical showcase fights.

Good post man...on the bolded part, I actually think Korobov, Hurd, WMJr and SD are good fights...if he can get a few of those in the ring it would be pretty cool...would honestly love to see him in vs SD to see his level relative to Jacobs/GGG and even Canelo by proxy.

Charlo is so low reward-highish risk for Canelo, and on different networks, I just can't really see that one happening

                      You ldbc guys are hilarious...
                      What profile?
I know it may not be obvious to you, what with the Charlo twins’ balls in front of your eyes and all that, but the Charlo’s profiles and reputations are in the gutter, and are only trending further downward.

No need to keep holding up the lion curtain anymore, as everyone has already seen the small, scared shaking cub whose voice breaks when he tries to roar.

Just thought Id let you know.
