Seems about right; basically where the body is all the way done developing, almost to being too seasoned, paired with the experience of basically seeing every style that there is to see while also nearly fully understand the tools that you have at your disposal.

You get passed that 28-31 point and you're basically working with your with/experience covering up for things that your body is starting to slip on (ie Floyd's hands basically being shot after the Gatti fight; Floyd basically moves to being even more defensively focused, while also prioritizing only throwing shots that he's almost certain to land instead of throwing a couple extra shots to try and open something up).

For most humans physical prime is a bit younger, maybe 27, 28 or even younger in terms of the physical attributes required for boxing, but of course balanced against that is the experience, resilience and maturity gained by increasingly challenging fights and adversity faced. In the middle weight ranges (roughly 147 -168) age 28 to 32 is pretty much what I'd consider 'prime' where any slight physical decline is counterbalanced by an improvement in craft. Beyond about 32 or so skill and experience can no longer completely make up for the slight decline in reflexes and (possibly) stamina, even though strength will not necessarily have declined noticeably.

In the lower divisions where speed and response times are more critical fighters tend to peak a bit younger, at the higher weights, especially HW fighters will tend to peak somewhat later on average.

Course in boxing there's also the simple fact that most dudes have to work their way through the ranks, so often we don't actually ever see fully what they can do until they reach late 20s to early 30s when they actually progress to level when they're getting matched against top guys... could be some of these guys were quite capable of taking on top opponents years earlier, but just never got the opportunity... and of course some guys may never get the chance (I'm looking at you Boo Boo) or don't get the breaks til their prime is nearly or already past (I'm thinking Maravilla, GGG). Simply the way the sport's set up.

I feel like its a lil younger. 27, 28 to about 31, 32. Then you start seeing mfers fall off big at 33+ it feels like.

I would add In General, should go w/o saying, cuz I think lil guys peak a couple years sooner & bigger guys seem to peak a couple years later.

Labeling him shot is just an excuse. Folks on this board love excuses over facts.

The truth is he ran into the Mexicutioner when he began his onslaught...PACQUIAO!
