Can WBC and IBF acknowledge some “Champion in Recess,” belt vacancies?

If Spence is out for a while, what happens to the straps? Special considerations?

Spence will keep the belts while he recuperates. In the meantime the WBC will make a special Hernan Cortes Conquistador belt for the best of the rest.

IBF only allows interim champions in the event that the champion is injured and unavailable for a MAXIMUM of 12 months.
