Williams is a prospect, and yet everyone seems to demand Margarito fight him.

Surely you aren't one of these people demanding he fight Williams if you are tired of seeing him fight 'prospects'. Sharmba Mitchell is a gatekeeper. Not Margarito. Tony will prove himself when given the chance, and he will not fight Cosme in his next fight if he is smart.

Assuming Williams beats Mitchell, I wouldn't consider Williams just a prospect if he dominated Mitchell. Right now, a win over Matthyse proved absolutely nothing. A win over Mitchell puts him in the top 10 at welter.

If Margarito fights Clottey or Quintana, he is nothing more than a gatekeeper. Why? He has never stepped up to a fighter who would elevate him from that status... well, except for Santos and we know what happened there...

        couldn't agree more

beating williams wouldn't do anything for the "name" that many suggest marg needs on his resume

mitchell's knees are held together by pins he can't move and when he trades he'll likely get dropped

if anything i think a better fight for marg would be collazo

I've seen Quintana fight, and he is above prospect level. He just fought a fellow undefeated prospect, and blew him out even though he was the underdog. Quintana showed great boxing skills in that fight, and the ability to take a punch. That is a good fight for Margarito...but Williams is not (unless he beats Sharmba like you said).

yet you suggest he fight williams

beating mitchell proves nothing for him either

he'll probably take mitchell on youth alone
