How much more power would Wilder have if he didn't walk around on toothpicks?

How much more power do you need? His right hand is lethal as is..what he need to train on is punching technique, he already has power if he punched correctly and jabbed correctly he’d be damn near unstoppable with his reach.

power is 90% technique that one devolops that fits his frame, muscle fibers etc. Thats why they say are born cause someone just naturally learns how to throw a power punch on their own.

What I've noticed is that most punchers are bone dense, which allows their hands to punch through the target, but not all. Naseem Hamed for example had fragile hands/wrists but carried extreme power from his legs. Golovkin and Marciano had extremely powerful backs and dense hands.

Wilder is a bit like Tommy Hearns, they create a tremendous whipping action which seems to come from the shoulders and hips, it allows them to create tremendous speed and velocity.

My overall opinion is that punchers are born, boxing allows them to perfect it, but the ceiling is pre-determined.
Obviously, u dont need legs for power. SOME fighters do use them for power but u dont need them.

no. and muscles doesnt always equals to power. it would make no different if he had bulk up legs or chicken legs, the fact is that he's not throwing his punches from the leg up.

My guess is another 25-30 lbs

              It's physics you momos.

Technique can be improved, better technique usually means that you can deliver a punch in a better trajectory (faster/shorter), but Deontay doesnt really throw straight punches.

You can make the mass bigger by gaining weight, but if you loose speed as the result of this, you will cancel out the benefit of the added mass. It's the guys who keep their speed and gain weight that "carry" power into higher divisions ex. Pac.

Speed can definitely be improved and a faster punch = harder punch.

Torque generated by a punch benefits from a longer lever.

What do almost ALL devastating punchers have? Long arms, good bit longer than their height.

I don't think Deontay's power can really be improved. You can't make him any faster as he is already as lean as he can be.

If you have him gain weight, will he loose speed?

His biggest punches are these looping shots with a lot of torque. Shorten his reach by 5" and a good part of his power will be gone.

              -----
              Force=m*a || m = mass, a = acceleration

Torque = F * r * sin(theta) ||T = torque, F = linear force, r = distance measured from the axis of rotation to where the linear force is applied, theta = the angle between F and r
              -----

Even if u could increase power, it might come at a cost of speed and stamina. Might not be able to land as often or throw as many, and the overall amount of damage u dish could end up being much less. If u really lack power then it could be worth changing it up, but if ur known already as one of the hardest punchers, just work on everything else.
I agree I wouldn't change a thing.just focus on training those twitch fibers making them more explosive by doing alot of movements with cable machines.and under water punching to stay flexible and fast

I've also noticed dee has gained a little weight from watching the dee and Ortiz press conference you can see it in his face hopefully it won't slow him down but add to his power

Bob Foster, Gerald McClellan and Tommy Hearns were all slim guys with devastating one punch KO power.

Im not sure his technique for power punching would really benefit a great deal from having thicker legs. He's just got a real snap and whip when he throws that right that makes it monstrous. And let's be honest here, does he need any more power? Saying that in comparison his left is a bit of a dud.
