Was anyone else impressed with Sergiy Derevyanchenko?

After watching him perform against GGG I couldn't help but be impressed with SD skills. His boxing style is very pleasing to the eye and he has that textbook style that reminds me of guys like JMM, Edwin Rosario, and Harold Johnson.
Even after getting KD and cut he still came back and took the fight to GGG, outworked him, outjabbed him, made him back up, and beating up his body. He looked really good against GGG and I was rooting for SD to finally get a title despite getting on the wrong end of the decision. He’s made me a fan and I hope SD gets another title shot, what a skilled operator.

Yes, I was very impressed with him.

I really liked how he had an answer to so many of GGG's punches.

GGG would land a shot or two, then immediately SD would land some as well.

It was a hell of an entertaining fight, must be in consideration for FOTY. I was left thinking how I'd like to see SD vs Canelo. I don't think there is any chance of that fight being made, but I think it would be great to see.

I was impressed by him. He’s a smart fighter and has a lot of tools. Ultimately his two big fights he got dropped in the first round more from being cold than hurt and those KD’s probably cost him the fights. I’d favor him in re-matches with both at this point. He’s an excellent operator.

The fallout from the fight is why I don’t like boxing fans all that much. Just a bunch of crying, conspiracies and total disrespect to what Sergiy did because of an obsession with Golovkin.

Boxing fans these days just don’t seem capable of enjoying the sport of the fights. I don’t know why they watch.

Your last 2 paragraphs are hysterical because just last week you and others did the same thing with Spence following Spence/Porter. How exactly are you any better than them?

Definitely, Ukraine has a lot of good boxers. He flies under the radar a bit. I actually pick GGG to stop him between the 8/9th round. But he impressed me with the way he fought, he has two losses now and both are razor thin in his opponents favour. I still think he lost that fight to GGG via the KD.

Sergei has shown much in his losses. If ever there were "good losses" his 2 would be.

In each fight against world class competition in Danny and GGG he found himself down early and then fought back to arguably win both fights. He showed grit, toughness, and determination, not to mention an above average boxing IQ.

He has earned another title shot IMO and Haymon should put him in with Charlo. would be a tremendous fight that Sergei has a rel chance to win.

Point me to where I said anything about Spence and Porter. If you can’t theb you are a bigger liar than I thought you were. I’ll wait.

I actually scored the fight for Spence and attended the fight and enjoyed it. This is my first time talking about that fight online too FYI.

But please do point me to where I said that. We can bet money if you wish?

Exactly. These boxing "fans" really are the worst. Instead of enjoying fights they just want to constantly criticize fighters for looking bad or being in a tough fight when that's part of the game. People just can't appreciate entertaining fights anymore and are more focused on talking smack on another fighter, no matter how exciting the fights are.

A lot of people aren't even giving SD credit for his valiant performance and instead they're more focused on how GGG looked because they have some ammunition to vent their hate for GGG.
