        Now we all know why GGG took time off after the Canelo rematch and when he did come back he refused to fight anyone of note instead choosing to fight a bum. He was honest to himself (not to the public) by admitting that Canelo did a real number on him and the punishment he took in that fight did some real damage to his body and the length of his career.

        This explains why he refused to fight anyone, but Canelo and was practically forced into this fight. Canelo broke him physically and mentally.
