No one at 160 is elite

    GGG-Jacobs was super close

    GGG-Canelo 2 was super close

    Canelo-Jacobs was super close

    Jacobs-SD was super close

While I disagree with the scores in GGG-Canelo 1 and GGG-SD, both were scored super close

That tells me no one is elite. In boxing history, there is usually one fighter in a division who is clearly better than everyone else. If that’s not the case, it’s usually because no one is elite.

So IMO, no one is elite at 160.

    What day you?

Been saying that for years, we've got a large enough sample size of top 5-10 MWs going up & down in weight & failing in spectacular fashion.

Super 6 cleaned out 160's champions and contenders.

Hopkins brought 160 king Pavlik up, ruined him & never returned.

Martinez fought & beat a faded Pavlik, Martinez wound up having career ending injuries. Pirog crushed Jacobs in 5, he was supposed to be the A elite guy of the division but like Martinez suffered career ending injuries.

These events in particular lead to a vacant division allowing guys like Jacobs to never have to avenge his loss and guys like lil g dragging up Welters.

So because the top guys are having close fights it means nobody is elite? What about Hagler, Hearns, Duran, and SRL? Would it have been better if one of them just demolished the others 3 times? That's probably why the best avoid the best for so long, because even if they win they get hate. All of these are top guys. GGG is 37 and on the decline, but can still hang with anyone. Typical biased hating toward modern boxers, yet past boxers are always judged differently to fit an agenda. Facts!

I agree. We have a close Andrade -Culcay as well. there are top 10 guys that are on the same level and they will keep fighting to close decision. Canelo didn`t separate him self from this guys.

Taylor & Abraham, while Hopkins left on his own accord. Miranda & Green were also top 5-10 guys at 160 that moved up.

Abraham had successfully made his 10th title defense & was straight cold clocking guys at 160.

JT I think was fresh off that war with Pavlik but before that he was a big as **** and fast MW. Same with Miranda and Green, these were all Jacobs size or bigger.

They moved up & it was a *****ing disaster lol, nobody carried their power up, guys that were massive at 160 were just average & they all pretty much got steamrolled.

                    Canelo is elite.

GGG and Jacobs were career middleweights who had fought each other before fighting Canelo, who had fought his first 33 fights at 147, then by his 44th fight was fighting Mayweather at a 152 catchweight. Canelo is short for 160 and is going up to fight Kovalev at 175.

Canelo will probably beat Kovalev, then he'll be back down to 160 by Cinco de Mayo, and he'll still only be 29. I see that peak prime and battle hardened Canelo dominating at 160.
