Predictably, 90% posts criticising Golovkin and only 10% recognising Derv's contribution to the fight.

For me, Golovkin went in trying to be more surgical, but Derv's punch output kept him covered up too much so Golovkin couldn't unload as much as he wanted. The power difference was evident from the start, and Derv's best defence was his offence - you could sum the fight up as :

Banks: 'need drop more bombs on him...'
Golovkin: 'Can't - he's throwing too many pebbles in my face...'

So props to Derv as he was getting hurt in there, but he kept moving forward as much as he could and didn't let up - Derv won in terms of heart and effort, but Golovkin consistently landed the more meaningful blows - fair result.

Golovkin isn't using his feet to control distance as much as he used to - without that, he has to stand and cover up more, which reduces his punch output and let Derv smother him at times. Nice fight - but Golovkin should retire as he's going to take damage one of these days.

13 more total punches landed overall... punch stats very similar to Wilder v Fury. And the GGG who scored the KD won. Hmmm I got to YouTube this fight to see what the controversy is about.

Save everyone the oft use clique, cliche special “robbery!” It’s over used and 2000 and late. Especially by soy boy millennial emotional boxing casuals who can’t define the term or even use it accurately. Was the fight close? Yes. Did you even score it round by round? No..you choose to bloviate and blow up the boards with ROBBERY! **** gets old. You watched the fight, never scoring it on paper and chose to see it the way you wished the outcome to be.

Most bellowing robbery do the same exact thing when they want a fighter to lose

please look at my join date. I’ve been around for some time. I’ve watched every relevant fight since Ray vs Duran. I was a boy in Panama at the time. I personal cant stand GGG. I’ve always said he had the most padded record. And I stand by this. However I call it how I see it. But don’t take my word for it. Look at what professionals are saying about the fight. Derevyanchenko won that fight. GGG was walking backwards from round 1. Now I’m excited that you’re passionate. And since 2018 your immature boxing mind has a way to go. So calm down. Sit back and let the veterans of the forums show you the way so one day you may be more objective.

If Dervyanchenko was throwing “pebbles” GGG would have walked right through him. Which guy though was getting backed up most of the night gasping for air? I’m interested to know how you gauge punching power. Aside from the Kd in Round 1, Dervyanchenko absorbed everything GGG landed on him without skipping a beat. GGG, on the other hand, was getting backed up and mugged for good stretches. Derevyanchenkos power definitely had a greater effect on GGG than the other way around.

Couple of things I think are worth mentioning (again - because it's been said, nothing new under the sun, everyone is an expert - all that).

I think Golovkin's lack of ability to close really frustrated him last night. I don't mean close distance - the guy will walk through a charging Volvo to hit someone. I mean to actually close the deal. The 'headbutt cut' on the heels of a knockdown usually spells doom for his opponents - which is not something he doesn't know. My assumption (and it's just that) is that GGG thought that he was in the red zone and was going to methodically take apart Derv (not going to spell out his name - good Lord) with a few power shots. That's his MO - he marches you down and his power aggregates on you. But, Derv had other ideas and GGG's power wasn't landing altogether clean from rounds 3-6.

Also, Derv is a tough dude. That's all.

Now, I know the reputation compubox has. Don't get me wrong. And, I think a lot of people are focusing on how Golovkin didn't 'look' as opposed to what he did DO. Percentage wise (read: efficiency) he was the better fighter. That's relevant, especially when you are the one that is unarguably landing the power punches. Triple G looked slow. He didn't look like the same guy from the first Canelo fight. Is he 37 - yes. Is he still a killer - also yes. And I'm not one to say that he hasn't potentially lost a step. I would offer, though, that he's probably struggling mentally more than physically. I imagine he's got a frustration that is hanging over him ever since Canelo 1-2. Guys age over time - they get slower, fights get closer, they get knocked down, the punches they land get 'luckier.' Looking at the last 3 years of the body of work GGG has put together, he isn't showing those signs [yet].
