Poor Eubank. He pulled a James Toney move (from James' 168 and 160 days) except in his case it might've been even worse because James Toney was living off water and lettuce. Eubank doesn't mention any kind of food. Fighters like that have the dedication it takes to make weight, because they know they're the ones who will be hurt (financially) if they don't make weight. Castillo failed to understand that.

But 19lbs. in 4 days is crazy...absolutely crazy.

"When someone fights for a title at 12 stone [168lbs], that's exactly what he's supposed to be - a 12 stone fighter. He's not supposed to be a bloody cruiserweight."

      ...

"Chris Eubank, for example, walked around a good stone and a half above his fighting weight between fights. He dragged all the liquid out of his body at 7pm one night and had until 11pm the next night to pack as much of that weight as possible back on."

Nothing like a Toney or Hatton - Eubank only ate once a day when he was boxing (dinner) because he was never hungry (due to exhaustion from training I guess).

Eubank had to lose sheer natural body mass, he never had any fat on him - all muscle. Eubank trained 365 days a year, weighing 175+ circa 89-91 and 180-185 circa 92-95 - abs always ripped right through. He just drained the water from his system to make weight (your body is about 80% water). He filled out a lot in his early-to-mid 20's, naturally.

Eubank would fight at 170+ in 1990, and 180+ on the night by 1993. I guess his body was just naturally 'filling out' a lot in his mid-20's, because he says he never touched any weights.

I lost 19lb in four days. That was through total abstinence of food and water and full, exhausting training at the same time. There is nothing harder than to train when you have nothing in your stomach - you retch, you feel faint, you are stretching yourself to the limit. When you dry out to that extreme, it is difficult to even blink, your eyes are so dehydrated. I had to periodically plunge my head into a sink of water to sooth the dryness. Four days without food or water makes you retch at your own breath. I used to even have the complementary fruit bowls removed from my hotel rooms, because just the smell of an apple or orange was torture. The evening before the fight, John Regan was with me in my room at The Coachhouse and I wanted to get a bag off the floor. I couldn't face picking it up, so I asked John to help me. Then I stood up and blacked out.

And, leaping the ropes just before fighting Watson etc..

I strutted up and did my usual vault, brimming with energy, John was in the front row, shaking his head, remembering how exhausted I had been the night before when I asked him to pick up that empty plastic bag.

                thats why i'm glad i'm a heavyweight

Me, I don't have the bulkyness, but I'm pretty ripped.

Yeah, you got a sexy body Jay. And that's a great sig right there

The few pics I've seen of Eubank as a 14-year old he looks tiny, really slight. He must of put on weight when he started going to Burger King though.
