    Crazy weight-making!

Eubank draining himself for the first Watson fight- from his book:

I lost 19lb in four days. That was through total abstinence of food and water and full, exhausting training at the same time. There is nothing harder than to train when you have nothing in your stomach - you retch, you feel faint, you are stretching yourself to the limit. When you dry out to that extreme, it is difficult to even blink, your eyes are so dehydrated. I had to periodically plunge my head into a sink of water to sooth the dryness. Four days without food or water makes you retch at your own breath. I used to even have the complementary fruit bowls removed from my hotel rooms, because just the smell of an apple or orange was torture. The evening before the fight, John Regan was with me in my room at The Coachhouse and I wanted to get a bag off the floor. I couldn't face picking it up, so I asked John to help me. Then I stood up and blacked out.

And, leaping the ropes just before fighting Watson etc..

I strutted up and did my usual vault, brimming with energy, John was in the front row, shaking his head, remembering how exhausted I had been the night before when I asked him to pick up that empty plastic bag.

That's not only crazy, that's ******. Where can you get your energy if you are already all drained up even before the fight starts.

He probably drunk pints of water right after the weigh-in, and ate whatever he could manage between then and the fight.

There is no way he could've gone 4 days with out drinking water and still working out. Hell he probably couldn't have done it even if he wasn't drinking water. After 3 days without water you will being to have organ failure, first in the kidneys and live with potasium and protein build up. You can lose that much weight in 4 days yeah, and actually not that hard either depending on your body fat percentage when you begin.

In one of my typical wrestling workouts you will lose anywhere from 4-6 pounds of weight. Of course you would gain a majority of that back from just rehydrating some after the workout again depending on your body composition.

But totally abstaining from water for 4 days is ******ed and fatal and probably bull****.

If you watch that first Watson fight, Eubank wins the first six rounds easily - easily. But then he suddenly loses all his strength after six rounds, starts tumbling around the ring and looked like he was fighting on empty after 10 rounds. Watson won the last six rounds but it was more a case of Eubank losing all his strength, after each round in the second half of the fight you can see Eubank swallowing these huge mouthfuls of water (signs of dehydration).

You can't just chug water after dropping a lot of weight and partially dehydrating yourself for weight. You gotta sip water. Look at any NCAA wrestling meet about 10 minutes after weight everyone has weighted in. You wont see anyone chugging water, you'll see a bunch of guys siping on water.
