Sure, and Spence/Garcia did more than that. So let's see what Wilder/Ortiz does. I mean I guess you can say he hasn't separated himself from Wilder, and heck, Wilder very well may even surpass what Spence did hear. So you could say Spence has separated himself from everyone MINUS Wilder.

But I think we know a lot more after the Ortiz fight. He's on the same level as Porter in terms of name value.

The gate was over a million which is impressive nonetheless.

Whether this fight did 275k or 300k buys, it was a success and FAR surpasses anything a non-Canelo or non-Pacquiao PPV has done over the past few years. It did more than DOUBLE what Crawford/Khan did and his other PPV surpassed the 300k buys range. Spence has separated himself from the non-superstars.
While you're at it lets pretend Mikey Garcia had nothing to do with Spence-Garcia selling as many ppvs as it did... Lol

I have nothing but praise for the PPV this past weekend.

But Wilder vs Ortiz 2 is not PPV worthy and should have been on free tv. Not paying for that one especially when the chief support is Santa Cruz vs Flores.

I posted this a month ago from FOX Q4 Earnings Call back in August:

On the sports front we launched pay-per-view boxing with the car see about in March we followed that with the [Indecipherable] just a few weeks ago and we're encouraged by the results as total purchases increased by more than 30% and direct purchases on the Fox Sports digital properties nearly doubled from the first pay-per-view event in aggregate, the Fox portfolio of digital properties generates a monthly audience of over 200 million unique people and nearly 10 billion minutes of content consumption.
            Source: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/twent...032408736.html

They're very happy with their results despite what people post on this forum who don't even live in America, don't know sh#t about the American Market but are flat out obsessed with what is going on here in America. They're expanding because it is doing so well especially Digitally so that is great for Boxing and great for the Fighters to make more money

Nobody can force anybody to buy a PPV but it is plenty of casual sports fans who actually can AFFORD to buy any PPV they want regardless if it is Boxing or UFC. Hardcore a lot of us still think it is all about us and only us when it is NOT! Being on FOX allows them to Reach a NEW Audience which is what this sport needs more than ever...NEW FANS!

Huh? When did I do that? I was on record saying they had equal name value going in. There was NOTHING to suggest that Mikey was a bigger star. Folks were saying majority of the buys and crowd all came from Mikey. That myth was busted.

Except that Wilder is likely still on 3 fights a year, with Spence set up for three PPV dates in 2020 with the calendar, and then you've still got Gervonta Davis being close.

FOX PPV will likely be able to bear 4 events, but there's likely to be more than 4 PPV viable events in 2020 (and likely going forward); Spence-Danny, Pacquiao-Mikey, Spence-Pacquiao, Spence-Thurman, Wilder-Fury 2, Wilder-Joshua, Wilder as undisputed heavyweight champion, Davis-Farmer, Davis-Lomachenko, Canelo-Jermall [yes, Canelo is on DAZN, but they want the third Golovkin fight, and Canelo isn't in the mood to piss on Golovkin if he were on fire, so an impasse is there], Davis-Santa Cruz, and likely a few I'm forgetting.

Will be interesting to see how things shake out

I am someone who never minded PPV, but the reason I didnt was cause boxing PPV were really meant for major fights.

If this 4-5 PPV a year will start to encompass just good fights as headliners it will jsut suck as fan.

And yes, that slate is supplemented by a likely 4-8 PPV events per year (with the PPVs eventually shown on Showtime or FS1 later anyway).

10 shows for the price of owning a TV, 22 shows if you've got a basic cable package, and basically 45 cards if you pay extra for Showtime (adding in the ShoBox cards).

You don't have to buy the PPV
