Spence vs Porter card did better than Wilder Fury card? Showtime vs Fox PPV bid war?

    Something doesn’t add up here.

I’ll only believe the marketing power of Fox if Wilder Ortiz 2 PPV beats Spence Porter.

Let’s see how strong the Heavyweight pull of marketing is on Fox for Wilder.

    Pac Thurman 500K Fox
    Pac Broner 400K Showtime
    Wilder Fury 325K Showtime

FOX/FS1 and Showtime are under the same umbrella (PBC); FOX is the new kid on the block, so to speak, Fox Sports is looking to front 4 PPVs per year, and the PPV talent have basically been developed by Showtime.

Errol Spence Jr is basically the cornerstone piece for Fox Sports, Wilder is basically on FOX PPV to facilitate the Tyson Fury deal (still shocked that Wilder-Ortiz 2 isn't on Showtime, but I understand. Wilder will be back on Showtime/CBS in due time), Mayweather Promotions is continuing their push of Gervonta Davis to PPV (on Showtime), and you've got a bumper crop of top talent worth featuring on their own shows (Benevidez, Plant, JRock, Jermall, Jermell, Leo Santa Cruz, Abner Mares still has name value, Kownacki, etc).

Fox Sports has 10 prime FOX dates and is aiming for 4 PPVs (pattern seems to now be putting a fight that would headline FS1 or maybe headline FOX as chief support).

You can't sustain the PBC roster with that, knowing that Pacquiao, Spence, Wilder, and Davis are set for/settling into being PPV fighters (Pacquiao doesn't have too many fights left, so long term it's Spence, Wilder, and Davis; all fighting three times a year if they can get the matchups to work).

2020 will be the course correct; with the Spence fight announced, Pacquiao still due to fight, and Wilder-Ortiz 2 set for November with Wilder-Fury 2 pencilled in for February/March, FOX isn't going to be able to carry all of those PPVs.

And that's before you get to Harrison-Charlo 2, Williams-Lara, Gary Russell Jr fighting, Thurman and Porter looking for fights, Jermall keeping busy, Benevidez-Yidrim and Plant-Angulo, and other fights that would need to be placed on either one of the 10 FOX dates as the headliner or one of the at least 12 Showtime/CBS dates as the headliner.
