The other two beltholders (Cotto and Hatton) refused to fight Floyd.
Cotto is actually on record affirming that during the promo for his fight at 154 with Floyd. Meanwhile, Hatton’s team said they weren’t ready. They weren’t ready for a guy that was coming up from 135
Hatton won that belt less than a month before Floyd fought gatti. Are you saying that hatton refused to fight Floyd, so he turned around and fought gatti 20 days later instead? Or were you talking about the coveted wbu belt? Cool story tho.

Great article. Funny thing about greatness is three of the old timey names you’ve listed; Corrales, Castillo and Gatti, ALL got beat by a certain fighter who shall remain unnamed.
Granted that it took two fights to right one of the fights but a win is a win is a win.

Now, brace yourself - here comes the mayhem rebuttals
It’s a good point to make. Floyd gets sh#t on too much here.

          It was a good fight.

To me, a great fight has big back and forth swings, drama.

A 36 min bar fight would be incredible to witness actually. Hopefully no one dies during the 1st minute.

Floyd went after Gatti for the belt. There was zero challenge there. Floyd also needed that crossover stardom that he did not have. Gatti had it.
After that, none of the Jr WW belt holders or top dawgs wanted to fight him.

So, unless you are calling me out for incorrect info there’s nothing really to decipher. Is that what you are suggesting?

what you posted read as though flloyd fought gatti because the other belt holders refused to face him...which in hatton's case would have been an impossibility given the timeline.

I agree. I should have given it more insightful context.
It was after they saw the demolition of Gatti that they all had 2nd thoughts.

Interesting thing is that when Hatton finally fought Floyd, suddenly Floyd was the bigger guy beating a small guy.

I would not call this a slug fest. This was a typical Porter style fight. Messy, sloppy, and bad boxing fundamentals. I like porters relentless-come-at-your-face approach, I just wish he was a bit cleaner and text book. He would be a much better fighter if he had cleaner punches and movements. Spence is always a slow starter and usually makes for a boring fight.

                      Way better than CrawTurd's fights!
