This is tough because you have to be careful not to overly criticize Porter (who's underrated), or overly glorify Spence (who's overrated).

Porter is a tough dude who leaves it all in the ring, but he's very predictable and pedestrian. A guy like Spence, if you're really going to talk about him amongst Boxing's best, shouldn't have struggled as much as he did.

I really think Spence needs to finally move to 154, I think we'll see more physical talents on display. He's a very well-rounded and sound fighter, but there's nothing special about him.

He really is only just barely top 10 p4p.

I still probably rate him a bit higher than you...but in general I agree with ya...good post...I think maybe the weight cutting is starting to impact him...unfortunately, the best fights for him are at 147 so he will probably kill himself to make that weight

I agree. But I really don't want to see his career pass like Trinidad's.

Yeah it is really going to be interesting to see what goes on with all those guys at 147 in the next few years...hopefully we get some good fights and some good fights at 154-175 as well

I think folks are boosting Bud a lot more than he deserves at this stage with what hes done at 147.

After the W last night for Errol Bud gots the worst resume of the best guys at 147 & few folks bring it up.
Why have you changed the way you post in the last year? You went from being obsessive about stats to wanting to try sound like a gangster. When did that happen?

I always thought that Spence's only real holes at WW were that he can be a bit slow (foot and hand speed) for a WW...and can look a bit lumbering and flat footed.

Spence being unable to keep Porter at bay was surprising to me though...I thought Spence's jab was better than that...but Porter kept good distance, and Spence couldn't keep Shawn at bay...and that let Shawn turn it into a dog fight and a tough fight.

Spence did some great work to the body throughout the fight...and to get to the body, you have to get inside...and in doing so you will probably take a lot of punishment...Spence should have kept this one at distance imo...I can see Crawford getting in and out against Spence after this performance...Crawford may just be too quick for him.

But I don't know if TC can take those shots that Shawn took, especially to the body...after seeing this fight though I think Crawford wins some clear rounds vs Spence by getting in and out...and unless Spence stops/KOs him, I think it will be tough for him to pile up clear rounds vs TC to get a clear W...usually when you live on the inside, you take some damage to get in there, and end up getting as good as you give.
You’re surely taking the close fight to the heart LOL

147 is best division. No shame

At least your still riding with your boy and not like some on here.

Man I have just always liked Spence...liked him when I saw him at the Olympics in 2012? And have followed his rise.

But his past two fights just were a little lackluster imo...I just expected him to fold Mikey early, and to more or less dominate Shawn...that's just how highly I think of him I suppose...just was really expecting Errol to beat Shawn much better than Brook Thurman (or Ugas if you will) did...and he struggled more than I thought.

But yeah he is still a tough test for anyone...he showed heart, chin, toughness, stamina in there...just wanted more of the jab and keeping Shawn on the outside...and a little more power too.

If he rolls through Garcia and more or less dominates him, that is what I will be wanting to see from him...if he has a competitive fight with him, no shame in that, Danny is a good fighter...but it would again put him in the same class as Porter or Thurman and I had higher hopes for him than that.

Also now I feel like I favor Crawford over Spence...and I always had Spence in that fight, until recently where it has been 50/50...so maybe I am just sour that I have to reverse and go 180 on that fight now lol
