Errol Spence’s fight against a no-name like Carlos Ocampo drew in a sold out crowd of 15,000 in Texas according to Keith Idec of boxingscene
By Keith Idec - Errol Spence Jr.’s fight Saturday night is more about where than who. The unbeaten IBF welterweight champion is such a huge favorite against unk
Mikey Garcia has had about three fights in Texas, and none of them drew a crowd of 15k. Here’s a list of all three of them:
1. Garcia vs Lopez. Dallas, TX. 5,605 fans
2. Garcia vs Martinez. Corpus-Cristi, TX. 5,124 fans
Mikey Garcia stopped defending champion Rocky Martinez 56 seconds into the eighth round Saturday night to take the WBO junior lightweight title.
3. Garcia vs Lipinets. San Antonio. TX. 7,800 fans http://fightnights.com/2018/05/18/40...-cow-in-boxing
Now onto California. Errol Spence had a crowd of 16k in attendance for his fight against Shawn Porter at the Staples Center in LA.
By Keith Idec - LOS ANGELES – Shawn Porter proved Saturday night that the odds-makers and countless others didn’t know what was about to happen. Dismissed by ma
Mikey Garcia fought in the same venue against Robert Easter and only 12k people showed up. According to sources, half of the people there got FREE tickets.
By Keith Idec - LOS ANGELES – Robert Easter Jr. deemed Mikey Garcia overrated before their fight Saturday night. The former IBF lightweight champion might feel
So the narrative that Mikey sold the PPV against Errol because of “the mexican fans” has officially crumbled. Errol Spence is a draw, and a bigger draw than Mikey.Comment

I don’t think this is a surprise. Spence’s fight in Dallas was his homecoming and Spence-Porter was a way bigger fight than Garcia-Easter.Comment

I don't see why anyone would complain about any boxer being successful. When boxers are successful boxing is successful. We then get co events and preliminary bouts that make lesser known fighters money while showcasing their talent off of bigger stars. Then again there are promoter groupies now too and thats just as annoying.Comment

Floyd vs Oscar on Cinco De Mayo weekend.
Floyd vs JMM on Mexican Independence weekend.
Floyd vs Mosley on Cinco De Mayo.
Floyd vs Victor Ortiz on Mexican Independence weekend.
Floyd vs Cotto on Cinco De Mayo
Floyd vs Guerrero on Cinco de Mayo
Floyd vs Canelo on Mexican Independence weekend
Floyd vs Maidana on Cinco de Mayo
Floyd vs Maidana 2 on Mexican Independence weekend.
Floyd vs Pacquiao on Cinco De Mayo
Floyd vs Berto on Mexican Independence weekend.
11 out of 16 PPVs that Floyd has had was on a Mexican holiday weekend. But of course Floyd will never suck up to them Mexicans right?
https://********/mD1U6RLzZlASorry kid, but the weekend isn’t the holiday. If Floyd Mayweather fought on December 28th, did he fight on Christmas? No. He fought on December 28th.
Cinco De Mayo = May 5th
Mexican Independence Day = Sep 16th
Mayweather has fought on a Mexican holiday only twice. Once because he was forced by Oscar De La Hoya, and once voluntarily against Miguel Cotto who isn’t even mexican.
Floyd Mayweather is more popular than any mexican boxer in history so bringing him up doesn’t help you out.Comment

Despite this, it still doesn’t change the fact that Errol Spence sold more tickets than Mikey Garcia in TEXAS and CALIFORNIAComment

Doe, any Saturday that is on or close to a Mexican holiday will always be assumed to be about attracting such ethnic fanbase.
You're fooling yourself if you say this isn't so just because it doesn't fall exactly on the holiday.
Big boxing events will always be on Saturdays in America, period.
Come on, doe, stop lying to yourself.Comment

Wow
What a bullchit thread
Sorry bud but this just don’t cut it , makes no fughin sense
Like someone said earlier and I’m guessing he’s right ; you are just pinning two against each other to state your fughin racism
Quite sad when I think that most fughin threads these days are about how much a boxer makes , or sells tix , or the platform he’s on
Mods should delete this bullchit
Most of us are here to discuss boxing not ticket selling or color or platformComment
