He's growing, getting stronger, smarter, improving his skills at 22.

If he keeps going at this rate, he could reign for a very long time.

Smith, Saunders, and Canelo may be future victims.

Benavidez's peaking is at LHW. Too bad he's 22, meaning he wont likely be swapping punches with the monster punchers at LHW.

I've never understood perspectives like this. "NOTHING BUT A BUM". Does one not realize the impact of such a statement ? That's saying, the only option for this guy...is to be a bum. He's not even a contender, a prospect, or a decent fighter.
Do we hear how absurd that sounds ? So...he has to beat the CONSENUS #1 SMW in the world, to even be in the conversation as "elite" ? Again, how absurd is that ? So that means out of 100 fighters at 168, 2 or 3 are good and the rest are BUMS ???

The Benavidez conversation started a good while ago, when he became the youngest SMW Champion of the World. He's now the youngest 2X SMW Champion of the World.
IMO, if you are not impressed with David Benavidez, you cannot really be a fan of boxing or you have some messed up bias that is affecting your attitude. You don't have to love the guy or be a big supporter, but if you can't acknowledge he's in the top 3 in his division, you are foolish.
A top 3 fighter is a BUM ? We really should be more responsible with the words we choose. Unfortunately, the anonymous nature of the internet makes it easy to speak irresponsibly.

I’ve been high on this kid since day one. When once lil fat boy became youngest world champ. That tells you something.

I remember years ago when Jose Benavidez was working with Freddie Roach, there was video in wild card gym about trainers speaking highly of David about his skill even though he was a tall fat kid lol
