Comments Thread For: Keith Thurman: Porter Has The Power To Hurt Spence

LOS ANGELES Errol Spence Jr. is considered the superior puncher in his fight with Shawn Porter. The powerful southpaw has knocked out 84 percent of his pro opponents, including Kell Brook, who beat Porter by majority decision five years ago. Porter's knockout ratio is significantly lower (52 percent), but one well-informed former welterweight champion warned skeptics that they shouldn't doubt Porter's power.

I agree with Keith when he said if Errol considers himself elite in the division, he has to beat Porter. That is a fight he has to win. Porter isn’t beating Crawford and everyone in boxing knows that. Crawford has too many skills for Porter. I believe Spence does too. We shall see, can’t wait!!!!

When you aren't fighting a midget from a lower weight class or a past it pensioner, the optics might change.

I don't know that, not at all. I would have to see it. Porter would be the best win on Crawford's résumé by a mile. You can say that Crawford would have too much skill for Porter but you could also flip it and say that Porter has enough size, strength and power to be able to bull rush his way in and put Crawford in uncomfortable spots he's never been in before.

The bottom line is: Crawford's unproven and untested at 147 apart from Jeff Horn. Until he fights and beats the likes of Porter, Thurman, Spence, even Danny Garcia, I and the rest of the boxing world don't know that he can.

Porter has the physicality, heart, and Chin to provide an upset.
