Weird phrasing, is that the done thing, refer to the person as their current preferred gender back before they transitioned? At the time Manuel was competing as a woman, it was after that they decided to transition and yet they refer to them at that time as "he".

Considering the percentage of people who are apparently transgender the amount of coverage and debate does seem a little over the top, like it is a fight for the sake of a fight, sort of like this Everlast sponsorship.
