I don't think they're really "down" on him, he does have a wild style. If he had a Cus D'Amato, an Emmanual Steward, even a Mayweather Sr or even a 'past great' giving him basics? He'd be an even greater force to be reckoned with.

I like Porter, but thats what I also see: a wild in-shape street fighter. Even if Porter wins, I'm sure it'll be due to some wild unpredictable wild swinging that connects - kinda like relying on hail mary's with what he actually does good....

Its not hating on my part, its just observations that have me & others saying, "damn, if this guy would just give his pops a break and learn a more disciplined technique from someone else more credible?" Porter could be so much better with his natural gifts, but he relies on the limited yet confident sounding advice of his pops....Cudos to his pops for the 'mental toughness' he's instilled though.... big respect for that...the most important part...

No you don’t think you’re hating at all and your observations are entirely accurate. It wasn’t really aimed specifically at this article, I just see a lot of comments about porter being a bum or a b level fighter generally.
I know he has technical limitations but that’s kinda what I like about him, how he’s achieved so much with limited ability, as opposed to fighters like Broner. Gifted but a waster.
I put money on porter to beat berto and Garcia and he had no right skill wise to beat those guys, but he wanted it more and was willing to take risks. I love that and love the fact he takes on fighters who he knows are better than him but has faith in his own toughness to overcome that.

You're right about that and that's why I'll be rooting for Porter even though I think Spence will win. I've never seen Porter in a boring fight.

Great mental game. Porter won't rush as much and try to prove he can box. He'll get nailed more because he'll be at the end of Spence's punches instead of on his chest. Spence by referee stoppage. Not paying to watch 2 boring athletes with no ability to spark a crowd.

Porter isn't an easy win for anybody. His heart and willpower are second to none. I have Spence winning via UD, but he's gonna have to earn his money tomorrow night.
