They tried to cancel the event after the journalist got killed, but had to continue due to contractual obligations.
All women wrestlers were banned from performing though, as well as a bunch of wrestlers refused to show up (straight from wiki since I haven't watched wrestling in about a decade)
but this part stood out to me..."Aleister Black told WWE that they would not travel to Saudi Arabia, in addition to Zayn and Bryan once again not competing on the show.[35][36] Black has reportedly not been authorized to participate on the show due to his body featuring several tattoos with "some religious connotations" that might offend Saudi Arabians; it is unknown if this was a decision from WWE, or a request from Saudi Arabia."
So I guess Andy is going to have to box in a niqab?Comment

The Saudi Oil field "attack" is much different than the Manchester "bombing!" Saudi Arabia and Iran have been in a proxy war in Yemen for over a year! Things are very hot! Should have returned to the scene of the crime, just like Joshua "initially" stated he wanted to do!Comment

Big difference where wwe Event was, and the town Eddie is placing this fight in.
Eddie is snake down in the SA hood.Comment

I don't have an issue, but, I think it's curious how Hearn uses Joshua's stardom to help kickstart ventures like DAZN and boxing in Saudi Arabia, which is normal, he's a promoter, but what isn't is no one seem to want to talk about that.
I agree mostly with DaNatural on this one. Gay rights, women's rights, bombs, all sound a bit like politics and not like boxing to me. I might agree that SA's kinda ****ed what with their chopping off heads and genitalia and whatnot, but, on a boxing forum what I want to talk about is a little more boxing centric and a little less political. I could go anywhere to talk politics.
Josh was the first major sign for DAZN wasn't he? And this is Saudi Arabia's first major star in boxing putting on a show in their nation right? I get that the kid gets paid an upfront fee so viewers and tickets sales aren't exactly his concern but how does this affect his ability to get sponsorships and endorsement deals?
Is this good for Josh or for Eddie? Does Josh get any chunk of matchroom? Y'all sure this kid ain't getting a little Mike Tyson-Don King over here?Comment

This all seems a bit odd with how much negative heat SA has on it now, but in boxing its about the money all the time or more often then not anyway.
Beyond this issue I do wish for a day boxing wins more than the money does. And honestly I think there is more money in boxing when its about whos the best more then who sells the best like it is now.
They cutting off ****s &/or t^tties there too. Wut in the f#ck.Comment

Boxing never wins more than money does, it's shaped by it. You'll never find an era when the old, clumsy, hit me I hit you back style, fails in the ring on mass against the slick, scientific, hit you and don't get hit back style.
Mendoza invented the latter to make money and money it made. It behooved the entire industry to endorse boxing over punching for a plethora of easily assumed reasons, longevity, promotion, etc.
What you'd guess would happen did, in short.

Yes they do and yes it's ****ed up.
I make prosthetics for a living. I invented the world's male to female prosthetics or rather the system that allows molds of that sort to be molded in the first place. So, I sell quite a lot of pre-op trans stuff.
Basically what I do for them is give them is an experience so they can better determine if they actually want a sex change. They can dress up like a woman and live like a woman for a few months or years while they decide if hormones and surgery are really what they want to do.
Which, in the west is usually seen as a good thing. In SA what they go is since you're a man keeping your man parts makes you gay, which is not okay, so they force a sex change on you. My products are actually illegal over there. I have a whole network of trans I use to smuggle products into places like SA and Iran. Even Iraq, even though they're more a US vassel now they're not too hip to the T's.
If you're curious, no, most who buy my products do not continue with transition, but, as insurance and the normalization of hormones and surgery picks up less and less are interested in the first place.
So, it's kinda funny, effectively the US is doing the same it's just more manipulative and does leave the T to make the choice themselves. Most of them will not be told about anything but hormones and sex change operations. That's their whole life. After a year of that they're certainly not going to pop on boobs.
In SA if they convict you of being gay instead of getting punished you can have a sec change. They will pay for it. Then again, sex change or off with your head...makes you feel for the actual gays who are now basically just eunuchs....ouch.
If they don't keep up with their new parts, which most who don't want it don't, then it just kinda fills in. Like an ear piercing.Comment
