Comments Thread For: Spence: Shawn Porter Will Be Tough Test For Me in Classic Fight

Shawn Porter has a propensity for being a rough and rugged fighter and bringing a tough fight in the pocket to his opponents. Errol Spence, his opponent Saturday night at Staples Center, is an aggressive southpaw who knows he'll have to equally walk down the come-forward fighter if he plans on putting on a winning performance like many believe.

Being a great fighter isn’t always having clear, decisive victories or knockouts. Sometimes having a great performance is how you respond to trouble and adversity during a fight and still win. We never forget those moments. Remember a bloodied Hagler vs Hearns. Sugar Ray’s eye almost swollen shut against Hearns. Chavez getting tattooed all night by Taylor and then hurting & dropping him in the closing seconds of the last round. Floyd badly wobbled twice against Mosley, the 2nd time really bad. Holyfield being badly hurt by Bert Cooper to come back and stop him. Timothy Bradley almost out on his feet against ruslan provodnikov. Andy Ruiz being dropped by Joshua and getting up to drop him (4) times. Wilder getting out of the round against Ortiz. Fury getting off the canvas twice against Wilder. Marquez being dominated by Manny in the closing seconds of the round in the 4th fight before knocking him out cold. Corrales badly hurt, eyes swollen shut against Castillo. The list goes on and on.

Which fighter, Spence or Porter, will walk thru the fire Saturday night to get a victory. We have seen Porter respond in different fights. What about Spence if he gets hurt or dropped. I want to see how good and mentally tough he really is. Great fight can’t wait!!

They just had another recent back-and-forth, and once again, Spence is totally dominated verbally, with Porter emerging as the alpha .

Spence just isnt a talker. Very monotone and camera shy. Meanwhile, Porter has a radiant presence.

Porter said something towards the end, about Spence showing unexpected boxing skills against Mikey Garcia. THAT seemed to light some kind of fire under Spence ...he 'bowed into Porter's statement, and there was an exchange.

Otherwise, Spence was once again in Porter's shadow. Spence showed a little personality and grin, with a suggested new nickname for himself after the fight, "Show Stopper", and promising to knock Porter out cold

Getting Beta'd in the pre-fight exchanges diesnt always guarantee axwin for the Alpha though, and we'll see whose FISTS talk louder Saturday !

EXACTLY.....all Porter is doing is selling and hyping up the fight more as he should. I think he gets punished in this fight until daddy Porter throws the towel in the later rounds.

Ummm.... in nature the alpha isn't the one with the loudest bark, it's the one that dominates the others with their actions. Being yappy is the way the betas best game to try and make it look like they might be able to compete with the alphas to anyone that will pay attention, but that becomes meaningless when they actually have to come up against the alpha :P

As i said this middleweight guy in Spence has no intention to fight Porter toe to toe and simply plan to be ilusive and recieve unanimous decision...
