    Quartey v. Forrest

What are people's thoughts on this fight in about a week? Not just who would win but why etc.
IMO, it comes down to Forrest's health. If Forrest is healthy I think he can pull out a decision. But regardless we should be watching two of the best jabs in boxing today. To me Forrest was really heading for super-stardom until he couldn't solve the fairly simple Mayorga riddle, but styles make fights. I just think that Forrest is tall, has a pretty good chin, and a great jab and straight right which makes him a tough fight for anybody with speed. His real problem is against guys that can bomb like Mayorga but if he had boxed better in the 2nd fight he would have won the decision. I think Quartey is simply past his prime and frankly was a little overrated. He really doesn't have much offense outside of a 1-2. He never really diversified his arsenal.

This should a very good tactical fight IMO.2 very good Vets making their comebacks collide.I am picking Forrest because I think he will be a bit fresher but really like both guys alot and do not care which wins.

I agree with that and like both guys a lot as well. Quartey beat up Oscar worse than anyone I think including Hopkins.

Yeah I'm actually kind of excited which isn't necessarily a good thing. The last fight I was excited for was Corrales-Castillo 3 and we know how that turned out. Here is to hoping things come off without a hitch on August 5th.

Hard to say, Quartey was so/so his last time out and Forrest hasnt really been doing much. A good fight me thinks tho.

What about if this fight occurred when both were at their respective primes? I actually think Quartey may have fared better although I still favor Forrest by UD.

This is a good fight, both solid former welterweights. I was a bigger fan of Quartey, he was a tank at welterweight. I think that Quartey has fought better opponents at 154 , and will have a strenght advantage going into the fight. Though last time i saw quartey he looked slow and predictable, I think its Forrests fight to loose.

With that said, im a big fan of Quartey and i hope he wins

to vets trying to rejuvenate there careers. I'm pulling for Quartey on this one. I wont count Forrest out because his tall , lanky style could prove fits for Ike.

I agree with you. Quartey has fought MUCH better comp than Forrest since the comeback & has looked close to his old form. Quartey is definitely fresher & has never taking much punishment. Forrest in his last fight didn't look good at all considering the fact that his opponent didn't look like he belonged in the same ring as him. I see Quartey pressuring & jabbing to a UD or possibly a late stoppage if Forrest conditioning isn't up to par.
